Aye, it impressed me. And I'm a mean grumpy old man who ain't that easy to impress. Again, the clarity of the overall sound is remarkable. Day two. The Tone Search continues.
Honeymoon's over. We're getting an annulment. Can't tame the bright bite.
Put the hearing aid in and got a real shock. I'd been playing for a while without having it in. My high frequency hearing is shot. But I am able to get a bit with the aid in place. What I took for clarity was in fact high frequency infiltration all of the sound. Ouch! Had my neighbor with normal hearing listen and he freaked out! We both tried to dial out the bite but ended up with mud.
Pulled the MXR from the gang and going back to my trusty DigiTech X-Series distortion pedals. They got tones I like and don't cause cancer in hearing.
So, final verdict on the MXR?
Didn't loose much. Was worth a try. Just too bright and "squeally" for me.
Its on it's way out. Along with a new Joyo Tremolo and Biyang Tri Reverb.... Culling the herd and cut those out for sale or trade...
^ I didn't wanna say it before, but this is a nice pedal, nothing more, the script distortion+ and the Badd Ass Modified OD are much better pedals, imho.
