If I remember right, I got my first guitar, My Black Les Paul in my Freshman year of college either in 1982 or 1983.
I can still remember that 1982 was the first year I saw THE WHO as well. Tickets were around $17 per seat. LP was $350 with case.

I couldn’t touch an LP for under $800 back then.. I bought my Strat for $500. 1979 Then did some horse trading for the Marshall an Explorer.

Sadly Mitch, I sold my LP for $425.

The 1979 one in my pic, cost me around $3k to replace it. Go figure.

Maybe one day you can make my little 79 scream like it can LOL.

In 1974 I paid $650 for my Ovation with case. Sadly. Since it doesn’t say Martin on the headstock….. it has not appreciated in value. Doesn’t matter. It’ll never get sold. My youngest already knows when I don’t need it anymore it’s his. And assuming it survives will go to one of his kids. By then it’ll be around a 90 year old guitar.

IB, MY wife has her ex husband or son's Ovation. I can't seem to bond with that rounded back. I need a new bridge for it though.
Somehow the original got lost.

Ovation has good reputation. If I am not mistaken, Glen Campbell played one at some point.

Another good guitar or 3 I always heard good things about are Guilds, Seagulls, and Takamine.

I am certainly a fan of my 1977 Takamine F360S and my 1978 EF400S 12 string. Bought both of them new back then.

Yes he did. Watching him on his TV show way back when…. Was a big reason I went looking for an Ovation. Felt really bad when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Shed tears when he passed.

Yes. The three you mentioned are also good acoustics. At one time I was gassing for a Guild 12 string.

For me, I was 16-26 in the 80s and some of us older. So, I'd say some of the " Stands the test of time" movies could also be mine or other's favorites too.

I like being the joker type too.

Hence my favorite movie of all time is The Jerk.
