most recorded bass in history?

Adrian, YOU were who I WAS going to POST a Thread on THIS BASS............... for today but with a little more pizzazz of a title than you posted.

I got to the 3:00 mark and hit pause. Popped in here to the Bassment, and voila there you are already a week ago. Had I not been taking care of my sweet mommy in the hospitals, I may have seen this already.

SO without further ado,, I will watch the rest and comment.

PS. Our friend, Heket works for Scott of Scott's bass lessons.

Very cool!!! I believe I heard that before -- need to remind her we are over here :)

Leland Sklar is one of my idols as a bassist...
including of course James Jameson, Carol Kaye, John McVie, Duck Dunn, Charles Mingus,
Jaco Pastorius, Sting, Rick Danko, Tal Wilkenfeld, .... oh so many others I cain't recall.

thanks for posting this. since I'm not a sports fan much, I don't get why he'd let a bunch of
mercenary pro athletes sign his instrument, but maybe he is a fan... *shrugs

anyway I thought the concept of two reversed P-bass p'ups was very interesting.
Funny about the P-bass... as designed it was a one-trick pony. It did what it was designed
to do EXCEPTIONALLY well. But me, I was a J-bass player from the beginning, and regarded
the P-bass as auld technology, like ye rotary phone etc.

Jump forward forty fifty some years, and the advances in bass amp technology have helped
the auld Precision bass come into its own. With the effects available to the bassist using either
pedals, rack effects or newer amps, the Precision bass can play many many tones, and it gives up nothing.
Just turn the controls...

IMHO of course.
I finally got to know the Precision Bass when I rebuilt a MIC Squier specimen.
I got rid of nearly everything I could unscrew on that instrument
and replaced all with quality parts.
What I ended up with was an excellent custom P-Bass that was set up perfectly and sounded
just the way I wanted through my own amp. I loved the neck, and I loved the tone of the
"one trick pony" P-bass pickup, especially through my modernistic amp.

I sold that bass reluctantly when selling everything else I could...
trying to raise money to take care of my ladylove who was stricken with cancer.
I got good money for the rebuilt and lovely P-bass, and let her go knowing
she would be played and perhaps treasured, as was right.

My rebuilt P-bass might be one of the "least recorded" basses in hist'ry...
I never used her on any studio project. Nor did her former owner (dork)
and I don't know if my nephew (who received her) has recorded anything. *shrugs
She will outlive us all, I can testify to this as the one who rebuilt her.
