That's a great demo of just how versatile this bass is sonically... btw, Acinonyx jubatus is the Latin name for the Cheetah, so this instrument has affectionately become known as the 'Cat' in the bass community.Very cool! I was so intrigued by the design of the Nordstrand, I went in search of an explanation of what the two black strips do. I now know the top one is a series of pickup selector buttons, while the lower ones are preset EQ settings. Oddly enough, I was only thinking earlier today that a rotary with with presets might be a more versatile and useful option on a bass than the traditional pot with a capacitor. Looks like somone got there before me. Sounds great in Will Birkhead's hands.
Love the Ibanez! Was always a fan of their basses. I have a 605 and its my workhorse.
The EHB1000S is really cool; i play strandberg guitars a lot of the time, and i would love it if they made a short scale bass, but since they don't, the Ibby is a very nice stand-in.Love the Ibanez! Was always a fan of their basses. I have a 605 and its my workhorse.
I just switched to short scale & and it is hard going back to full. I am only 5'2 so short scale was a dream come true. Took me a sec to get the right basses to replicate what i am used to in the mix.The EHB1000S is really cool; i play strandberg guitars a lot of the time, and i would love it if they made a short scale bass, but since they don't, the Ibby is a very nice stand-in.
Great tone you're getting from that. I thought I recognised the Goya influence. That's a great demo of just how versatile this bass is sonically... btw, Acinonyx jubatus is the Latin name for the Cheetah, so this instrument has affectionately become known as the 'Cat' in the bass community.
It's also quite playable thanks to its 30" scale length and slim neck configuration.
The design is based on the 1960s era Goya Panther II bass, but it has been improved and updated by Carey Nordstrand; it keeps the vibe of the original intact but addresses all of its flaws/weak points.
At a towering 5'3", i hear you there.I just switched to short scale & and it is hard going back to full. I am only 5'2 so short scale was a dream come true. Took me a sec to get the right basses to replicate what i am used to in the mix.
Thanks, mate! It really sits well in the mix, and it's a blast to play!Great tone you're getting from that. I thought I recognised the Goya influence.
Fender JMJ Mustang -flatwoundsAt a towering 5'3", i hear you there.
One of my favourite basses is an Ibanez GSRM20 MiKro, and i believe it's a got 28.7" scale length.
Which basses did you settle on finally?

Cool quiver!Fender JMJ Mustang -flatwounds
1960"s Gibson something eb3(killer the pickups are wired strait - no tone & the bridge pickup is up in middle more-dont wanna know why even lol)
Ibanez TalamnTMB30- rounds & very agressive from 7 up on volume but very p bass like- usually use this in band cause of cut when needed

JMJ is maybe the nicest guitar have ever played. It is spot on with feel & sound. The proper mustang pickup is very full sounding,Cool quiver!
i have a Fender Mustang Bass also, but i went for the version with the P/J pickup configuration. i hear the JMJ is pretty sweet.
i love playing the bass.Happy to see some focus on bass.

That's a 'golden era' Warwick Thumb NT6 with Bartolinis. It had the most glorious sound, but it weighed 12.5 lbs., and that was too heavy for me even while sitting down, and the tuners were so far away it felt like they were in the next county over.
i wasn't playing it enough, so i sold it and used the money to pay for part of the cost of this:
