Lighter roasts usually have more caffeine. Caffeine is burned off in the roasting process. The longer the roast the darker and bolder flavour and less caffeine.Have not heard of it before. For me more is not necessarily better either.
I sometimes drink tea in the late afternoon to help me be alert during practice.
Only because I have been so damn tired, chronically it seems.
Then even though I am very tired, I have trouble staying asleep.
I have been improving my sleep habits and quality the last few weeks and am starting to see / feel the benefit.

I like dark roasts, ground fine. About ten large rounded tablespoons for an eight cup pot. Black, strong, and able to stand a spoon up on it's own.
