More Gain From Germino Lead 55:

It pretty much looks like a JTM 45 or a Plexi.

In other words, it doesn't have the high sensitivity input stages like a 2203.

Is it possible to replace one of the tubes with a SS device to increase the gain capability of this amp???

I would just change the input to 2203 /2204.

There are secret mods...
The trick is here that you need to be able to have good string muting skills.
If you let go of the strings, they will just take off by themselves.
And so the mods are more suitable for lead guitar /soloing, and very experienced players who can keep the strings under control.
