Gahr, I have a feeling a number of our members know people in the industry or at least know people who know people.
Little would I ever have dreamed I would one day be able to say one of the greatest American football players who's career began in the 60's on into the 70's. I was heading up to pay for my fuel as he was returning to his car from paying for his. Out of the blue, he stopped me in the parking lot of a gas/petrol station to express his concern that it appeared my back was really hurting me. I am not sure how many non US folks would know his name, but I am sure most US folks here are old enough to remember him. It was none other than Johnny Unitas. One of the nicest people I have ever met.

I have a laminated paper with his autograph in my game room. As a kid in the 50s and 60s from Baltimore he was certainly my hero. My dad had a 45 record of the play by play of the 1958 championship game of the Colts where he scored 2 touchdowns in the last 2 minutes to win the game.

As a kid in the 60's and 70's he was too, plus Brooks and Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer, Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar, Pat Dobson, Paul Blair and Elrod Hendricks.
Elrod was particularly a giant among human beings. While he wasn't a hall of famer, he was such a good hearted guy to generations of kids.

I went with no answer. If you ask me one day to the next I would pick one or the other depending on what mood I was in that day, and given that neither of them is really amongst my favorite players it's just too tough to decide.
