Those Bad Monkey's are Bad Asskey's! Inspiring overdrive pedal for only $40 or $50!I have three. The first purchase was a Boss OS2 Overdrive/Distortion. It seems like a fun pedal, I just haven't gotten comfortable with it. Since....... I've added a Bad Monkey and a Keeley Fuzz Head. The BM is in front of the Fuzz Head on my board. When I really want to make noise I kick them both on.
Nothing is for everyone. My favorite OD ever is the Boss Angry Driver, which is definitely not going to be many people’s favorite.Great that you fellas like it - it's a popular pedal at a reasonable cost.
Now, sorry for being a downer, but I suppose we just all differ in various ways... I've owned 4 or 5 pedals from this brand, including this pedal, and just never liked them. I fully accept that I'm probably wrongs, but I just don't enjoy this brand's sound signature (that includes the reverbs and delays that they're quite famous for).

Bad Monkey for the win! I love mine. I never really use an OD as an OD, I tend to just boost with volume and EQ settings rather than using it's gain, a clean boost to push higher gain amps into bliss. I prefer at least 2 band EQ. A Tone control on an SD1 or TS9 I find pointless. They sound thin to me. I also have on my big board an MXR Super Badass DIstortion it has 3 way EQ.I have three. When I was shopping, did the You Tube thing for comparisons. Several videos comparing the BM to a Screamer. Almost to a reviewer, they liked the high and low tone control on the Monkey over the single tone on the Screamer. Add in, the Bad Monkey is way less expensive. And frankly. The BM sounded pretty darn close to the screamer. So I was sold.Bad Monkey for the win! I love mine. I have the TC ELectronics Polytunes. Love em!
Yikes. I see what you mean. I remember paying around 50 bucks new when I bought mine. Haven’t paid much attention…. But now I’m seeing some of the used prices are totally off the wall. So there definitely seems to be a sort of cult following on them. Who knew???I also have a Bad Monkey. I had one years ago when they were cheap, but stupidly ruined it trying a mod. I recently acquired another one and I won't ever get rid of it.
