Just a note to say that I haven't disappeared but life (work) has interfered. I am currently on trial in back to back (and possibly another "back") cases so luthiery is on hold. I am staying out of town even at the moment so I am not even near my shop. I promise to get back to this and finish it as soon as schedule permits.

Can't you just say something like this in your closing argument, "Your Honor and members of the jury, I'm, like, building this killer guitar back home. And, there's, like, an entire guitar forum of people who are really wanting to see me get some more work done on it. So, if you all could, like, hurry up so I can get home, I and several dozen other people on the internet would really appreciate it. Thanks."

Its all good, Wav. I just looked at that slightly undersized hunk of 'hog and saw a V type body staring back at me. I had no choice in the matter. Kind of like Michelangelo and his blocks of marble.

So I have recently gotten back to building. I am building my first strat-style guitar. The body is a 7 piece poplar laminate. The neck is maple. I am currently thinking about a cocobolo fretboard. I have also gotten back to work on the V. I have been doing some serious sanding in the body and thinking hard about and researching the finish. I also have to adjust the neck pocket ever so slightly. Finally, I also plan to finally finish my Les Paul build that I started nearly 20 years ago.

The main issue with plywood appears to me the roughness of the surface which makes it really difficult to achieve a good surface. Same on the sides. How do YOu plan to deal with that?
