For sure! I think people who felt they were a gimmick need to watch this and if you think the makeup is lame, ignore it or think of Alice C. Just part of the show. But boy did they tear it up!! Practised their moves so they know what to doI've watched those Midnight Special clips a hundred times and still can't get over how freaking amazing that band was in its prime. No wonder I wanted to play guitar, Ace is a beast!
I think just that Custom model with the toggle switch. My Deluxe model from 75 with the 6 position switch is not a bolt neck.Watching that Kiss video i never realized the Gibson L6 was a bolt neck. Ya they rocked hard back in the day
Not sure that is any kind of definitive proof of anything. A '73, bought in '73, previous owner had already modified and resold in time for him to get it used? Plausible, but I'm not sure.
His logic doesn't seem to be supported by much more than a hunch, and that was an era when so many Deluxes were being routed for humbuckers that the shop may have been doing them in advance because they knew they would be an easy sell, or, more likely (to me) he had the mods done to it at the time of sale.
I checked out Deuce and SHE and I definitely see double white/cream HB's. gball, I am thinkin these are definitely early Super D'SNot sure that is any kind of definitive proof of anything. When I got laid off back in 09, when I wasn’t job hunting I was was able to catch some concerts on VH1. Don’t think the channel is still around. Anyway. They liked to play KISS and Rush concerts. As well as many others. So got to see some early…. Mid…. And later KISS concerts. And I agree. Really grew to appreciate them. Now ive been watching Kiss videos from 1977. Forgot just how good these guys are.
Which would be why with my contribution to this thread I said not 100% sure on the story. Just that it made good reading. When Smitty asked Jethro the question, my first thought with zero research has already been mentioned. He was a broke musician trying to get a start and bought the first guitar he could afford. How many of our guitar hero’s started exactly that way? A bunch I’m betting. Heck. It’s the way most of us started as well. Not sure that is any kind of definitive proof of anything.
