mODELING VS PROFILING

I've owned some of the best modelers and profilers and the Kemper is what I stuck with.

It may not be the "Best" in some peoples opinion, but it gives me exactly what I want!
 
All that a profiler or modeler (same exact thing) does is trigger a sample of a real guitar player playing.
If there was no guitar players, there would be nothing to sample. And no profilers or modelers either.

In other words, keep playing guitar.
The computers are imitations of the real thing, and that's all they are. These machines have no soul.

First off...they are not the same thing at all. But I don't feel like writing a few pages explaining the differences and how they work.
It's been beaten to death. Maybe Ray will chime in with the full explanation of the specifics behind each one.

Guitar players need not be present to profile an amp, just the amp and the Kemper.

nothing ACTUALLY sounds like Robin Fords Dumble in Robins hands --in -- the particular room your in listening to it in on a given stage--
or Eric Claptons Champ in layla in the studio in Miami................allthose years ago ERIC doesnt even sound EXACTLY the damn same when he plays it NOW .

so why --- do we chase and spend and chase and try and chase to mimic ....................................................billions of dollars annually spent to MIMIC ...............what others where CREATING ORGANICALLY .........not copying?

the NEXT GReat guitarist ......WILL HAVE "HIS SIGNATURE" sound and millions will try to capture and recreate it .....................................................
why?

seems GETTING YOUR OWN UNIQUE SOUND is a faster path to success ...................................................

Face it...none of us are Robben Ford...slice it anyway you like most of us are just hacks sitting at home flailing away...you might impress your livestock...might.

I don't think any of us are even trying to sound like someone else...we are searching for a tone that pleases our ears...and if we get that from a Squier
and a Monoprice amp or a Gibson Custom Shop guitar with a REAL Dumble it's the journey that's half the fun...

Throw up controversy and then yell at us...maybe you should try a Kemper for you dash our hopes on the rocks...this is the only way most of us will
ever get close to a Dumble or many of the other $$$ amps out there...

Wow. I’m really sorry to hear that you took it that way.(though, upon re-reading it, I can understand why) I‘ve been a beer shy of clicking the buy button on a Kemper a couple of times now...it’s a matter of time before I find one on my doorstep, and my bank account a bit dinged in the process...but I took it as a post encouraging those that can’t afford that level of game to wring every drop of cool out of what is available to them. A perspective that I hold dear...I’ve written some of my best songs on a bedroom rig.(70’s Fender Bronco, and Marshall Lead 12....no pedals...just chord to amp, and a few cups of coffee) :cheers:

Here's why...starts a post on a controversial subject. Ends post with "feel free to argue amongst yourselves". Comes in 6 posts later and starts IMO dogging the modeling gear
and saying no matter what we use we'll never sound like Robben Ford. So what, maybe it's fun to try.

Maybe I took it wrong, but it rubbed me the wrong way...

...now it's time for a few cold ones!

Man, I wish I knew more about these modeling/profiling things, but I'm not at all knowledgeable in this arena.

I really enjoy using my "old style" Amp and trying to get good tones from it. It's really quite challenging.

I really like you guys too...every one of you is a really good egg in my book.

You have to try my Kemper out next time you come to the house. It may be a while before I get the wife
to entertain at the house, but I'll get you up here soon!
