...anybody tried one?

Would it go ok with a little wattage 12" Celestion Greenback Cab? Just for low volume home stuff (and occasional outings - I think these heads are pretty portable).

Any thoughts?

So, I was in amp buying mood, and just couldn't justify the cost or wattage for my situation; small apartment, working abroad..., so I bought something else. I reckon the amp I ordered is an unusual little beastie that could work perfectly for me (although I'm already thinking about swapping the speaker... :) ).

I don't think any of you would guess it, but I'll do a NAD with write up soon, and I reckon some amp lovers will be interested in the particular amp/brand. :dood:

The Mesa TA-30 used to be on my "radar for a Mesa amp", but it's been discontinued. Nowadays, it's the Mesa Mark Five 35 or the 50 watt Triple Crown. But I ain't buying anything until my Rivera sells, and unfortunately there has been no interest locally on it.

I owned a Mesa TA30 combo. It was a very versatile amp. A friend has the TA15 head not quite as versatile but still a nice amp. I could be satisfied with either one.

Yeah, it looks really nice; I founded a TA30 combo available locally new, but at $1800 it's more money than I want to spend...

^ yeah, it looks a bit space ship, pretty nice, but Mesas are so damn expensive. I know they are worth it and lovely amps, but with Korean power socket/voltage being neither UK nor US it'd be hard to take it with me, and resale here is terrible.

BOSS Katana?

So much better, and just about the opposite. Let me show you a picture:

Cool amps, sounded really nice for old-school gain and crunch. Built like a :poo:house. Discontinued though.

Yeah, they are probably a decade or so out of date, but still available new in Korea for $$$ The TA15 head is about $1250 while the TA30 Combo is about $1800 - I was thinking that adding a cab to the TA15H would make the TA30 a better buy, but even though I have the money, I just couldn't get meself to spend it. My finger has been on the trigger to buy a MB so many times, but I'll likely wait until I'm back in the UK and settled.

they are also BLOODY LOUD -- my "measly" little 20 wat Subway Blues---- is STUPID loud --but has a very nice built in attenuation feature-- so its liveable for home use--

Agreed on the loud. I gigged for a while using a .22 Caliber 1x12 combo, and it was all I needed for volume with the master at around 11 o'clock, and the Mark 5:25 is even louder and has more headroom.. When I had a Rectifier Solo 50 it shamed our other guitar players 100-watt Marshall. Don't know how Mesa does it but, watt-for-watt they are about the loudest amps I have played, other than maybe the Budda I had for a while.

Ha ha… I did a search and found what amp this is. Definitely it's not a brand I've heard of. That circuit layout and execution is frick'n awesome! I've never seen radial (filter) caps installed and connected like that.... Brilliant... (y)

Looks better than this 2020 China amp.

Dig the resistors. dead out of the box poor solder flow.

I'm quite excited by this amp, the builder has a stellar reputation. I thought it'd be the kinda amp that some of you amp experts might like because it's hand-built to high-standards, and the guy is a proper amp builder, no circuit boards from Chine here. All things considered, I think it's fairly priced too.

The best amp I've ever had here in Korea for home use, great OD, near breakup and driven sounds was my 1watt Randall RD, but it had no cleans at all and when I played with at band rehearsal it just wasn't loud enough. I'm hoping this new amp will tick all the boxes. The one issue is the 8" speaker it comes with, but it does have a speaker output - I'm thinking either change the stock speaker to a 10" greenback or buy a 12" greenback cab. I'll wait and have a listen first.

those little Randal Devils are quit good--

I find (for me--- ear issues-- dog issues-- small home issues) small watt amps are awesome -- one of the best sounding combos I own is a marshall lead 15 head into a HARTKE bass 12" speaker/cab---RICH full chug great reverb -- screaming 80's harmonics---- all at levels that dont bother the misses watching Gordon Ramsey cooking videos in the other room
WIN/WIN
