Mesa Blues and a tube question

Actually, the 440s might have been discontinued. Maybe Gibson had something to do with it! Sound Pure in North Carolina still has new ones for $60 a pair:
I just ordered a set from them. The will be in the mail today.

BTW... I hope your Mesa Fillmore is fixed by replacing the old power tubes with new power tubes. Do you have an estimate in how many hours might be on the original power tubes?
Not sure, but not many, Robert probably put more hours on it than I have, but I’d guess less than 40 hours. I rummaged through some more drawers and found that I DID have some 6L6s, just not the Mesa flavor. I tried that set and no joy. The thing has a 5 year warranty (I bought it in 2021) so I looked on the Mesa site for an authorized repair place. One was in Riverside about 60 minutes away. I called them and they said their tech retired last year and they no longer serviced them. :(

The next closest place was in Anaheim (2 hrs away) so I called them. Super nice guy, but said he was booked until May 1st ! I told him I was going to be in the area on Thursday and could I just drop it off. He said he likes to spend time with his customers and to call him on Thursday to see if he can fit me in. We shall see, stay tuned…

That's my dilemma living in the sticks. Only techs who are Marshall Authorized are 2hrs North or 2 hrs West. Used to be a guy about 1-1/2hrs away but he closed shop a few years back. The guy I use up north is so backed up it's a crapshoot determining when you can get something in to his shop. Plus it sucks that he's open on Friday and Saturday only, works on the amps thru the rest of the days. Many times it's a 2hr ride to drop off an amp and you will have to drive back up the next weekend to get it. So all in all, 8hrs dedicated which sucks lol

Mesa branded AX7s can be whatever. At one point they were JJ. They like to advertise their own tubes. Seems like a power tube issue, I personally would use whichever 6L6GC I could get.

There is so much stuff crammed into these Mesa's! You're definitely better off with an authorized tech and that juicy warranty. I wonder what happened to the techs that used to work at the old Hollywood Mesa Boogie store?

I’m going to ask the guy if the Gibson buyout has flowed down to his level and if any fallout.

AT, not many. Really disappointed in this with minimal hours and treated with kid gloves. Will report back after it gets serviced.

No worries Don O , you still have the Fabulous Orange 35RT and the Blackstar 15E debut SS..:cheers:
