Marshall Neanderthal by Ivanberg - Build Thread:

The irony of this thread is that Robert never got a chance to pick up this amp, much less play through it. Robert had planned for about a month in advance to show up on September 22 (Friday) to finally take possession of his Neanderthal amp. Tragically, his fatal fall happened about five days earlier. I've been in contact with his 26-year-old son, Marc, and brought him up to speed about this whole amp build for his dad, who never got to enjoy it. Marc has planned to come up to Groovy Beach and meet me on October 28 (Saturday). At that time, I will proudly and honorably, present this amp to Marc and the Herndon family.

Today I installed Robert's choice of amp badge, and added a simple memorial plaque in his honor...

I know Robert would have loved cranking this mofo... :dood:

Today was the day. Marc and Robbie arrived at about noon. It was a very beautiful four hours filled with a little bit of sadness, but mostly joy and laughter. Me and the wifey also took them out for some good comfort food too. Marc and Robbie are good people and deserve so much better than with what they have to deal with right now. It was a very touching moment when I removed the amp from its shipping box and placed it on my work bench in front of them. They were so grateful for the amp... so grateful for sharing stories... so grateful for sharing photos... so grateful for a tasty lunch... and so grateful to know that there are lot of good people that can call their dad, Robert Hayden Herndon, a good and trusted friend. Bless the Herndon family.
