H in this case means “Hacked” lol
@RVA asked me about this so I thought I would do a quick overview ……
First up was cutting the stock combo down to work properly…… These are a tapered box ( like the Peavey combos ) so it took a little math to get it just right …7BEA96B5-A63B-4879-8586-56953F330F76.jpeg
Next was the Fans & EQ …… This was done with an additional IEC Jack …… Inside are the wall warts for the Cooling fans and the MXR 10 Band as well as the additional IEC out to the amp…
I added a couple switches to kill the fans if I need Studio silence ……
The MXR is in the Parallel EFX Loop F008952A-74AD-4F11-9BE4-5B0F9A7953A6.jpeg
This the way it looks from the Front AABAD104-6521-4587-BD4C-73C134C87ACA.jpeg

Very noice!

I had a 401 for the longest time, but I've loaned it to my dad indefinitely. I like the idea of it being in a head cab like that. Mine always ran really hot too, I put computer fans on the back, just used baling wire, and fixed em up to the perforated cover.

The fatal flaw. Pre 2003 models were biased way too hot. Believe his up there is a 2002... mine is a 2004, so has cooler bias, but still gets fairly warm. I sit my combo on the floor, but tilted back some (wedged a tape measure under there).... I have a 10x10 inch desk fan that I sit behind it that when it gets a bit warm I plug in, does a decent job of cooking it down.

Yep. Mine was a '98.

Seems your EQ settings are a bit different than what I’m running. I’d like to hear a clip of it. Any overdrive pedals?
I change it quite often depending on what cab I’m using …… That 1/12 has a V-30 16ohm in it and it likes a bit more Low Pass …… There is a small box 4/12 loaded with 2 G75Ks , a Gold , and a Weber Blue Dog ( 16 Ohm Wired Series Parallel ) it likes a bit more upper Mid Pass …… My favorite with this is a 1966 ( diagonal 2/12 Marshall ) loaded with a well broken V-30 and an Eminence Red,White And Blues ( Both 8 Ohm Wired in Series for 16 Ohm ) .. That cab has a great response with very little EQ needed …… My preferred tone is a bit dark with minimal OD but a CRAPLOAD Of Sustain ……
I’m usually loading the front with one of my Pedalboards …479CA52A-F983-49DF-B6B1-5DDBB75889B9.jpeg
