Many of Us Met on The Forums Because of the SG Style Guitar...

My first SG was bought new in 1964. A SG Special, the kind with P90's for you youngsters..... Sold it in '08( I think it was) and got an Epi 50th Ann model to keep me company. Nice, but not like my old one. Traded the Epi '61 copy and an '05 Epi LP Custom with bookmatched flamed top for a Fender Stratocaster last month. Do I miss either? No. Just lumps of wood, metal, and plastic. They're not people or pets. Material stuff doesn't matter. I am not sentimental about guitars. I do not call them "she" or "her" nor do I give them names. They're musical instruments. Tools. Nothing more. Not living beings.
Sometimes I wish I had your attitude towards the "material stuff", because I'm the total opposite. And this selfish attitude of mine probably causes me stress and anxiety at times. I was born this way.

The SG guitar that I refer to as the Old Lady is officially named "Esther" on the truss rod cover. Just about every other electric guitar I own, technically plays better, but I'm so sentimentality attached to Esther, that if I had to, she would be the only guitar I would keep... and be buried with! I let her rest a lot these days.

Me too...

Very simple.

See things for what they are. Cars are masses of metal, plastic, and glass. Guitars, we've covered that. Houses, like cars & guitars but bigger and we live in them. But we move and leave them behind. Nothing is permanent. We're born. We live. We die. It matters nothing what you amass in life. What matters is how you lived and were of service to others. In my culture, it was best to die in battle. To grow old was less desirable unless you were of service to others with your wisdom. But to cling to objects as though family, or a living being? That is a wasted part of life. Cherish your family and true friends, and live for them even after you are gone.

yep...they just feel right! I have a Strat and am sending a good friend of mine the Agile 3100. He plays a little of everything but he is taking care of 3 kids not his own right now helping a lady friend out. lol He is going to pay me 200 for it slowly :p It's heading down to the Florida swamp down by you guys in Tampa.

I like all kinds of guitars but I find myself playing my SG most of the time. Adding a HB to my Strat and grabbing a DSL50 and another 1x12 cab and that should be it except for pedals but you know I am a sucker for new things so you never know, I have a lot of places my money will be spent on remodeling the house so it will be a while before I get anything major :(

I rotate playing my G400, Tele clone, Hastrom semi hollow and my Ovation acoustic. Just depends on my mood since each one brings something different to the table.
