Many of Us Met on The Forums Because of the SG Style Guitar...

Once I get a chance to play these in their finished states, I will get rid of the ones I don't love. I find having several guitars a huge distraction...
I love all of mine for one reason or another. I enjoy walking in to the music room, and picking from the crew that's hanging out. The same goes for the living room...usually only two in there, but right now there's four on hand.
The only pain is maintanance...bulk string purchases are a must.

Too many choices for me!!!

From 2005 until 2016 I played only a C1 Hellraiser. I earned more money with that guitar than any other...

Bulk Strings - TRUE!!!

I used Hybrid 9's (Heavy Top) on the 24.75" scale guitars and Regular 9's (Light Top) on the 25.5" scale guitars...

My SG really is a nice piece. The cloth 50's harness and .033/,015uf PIO K40Y tone caps and Bourns pots really made a huge improvement over the stock PCB. The Alnico II PAF Clones (7.93k/7.88k) really sound great too I love the fat 50's neck. I am hoping we can become friends....

You ever feel that way about a guitar????

There was a time when I was playing the SG kind of the most a couple years ago, but I've reverted back to my LP's being my go-to, which other than a few deviations here and there they have been for 40 years, ever since I got my first one.

I think most of us do.

Now, the old Squire and I...we go way back. Bought for me new by bandmates in 1988, It survived a divorce, spent the night sticking out of a trash can by the curb, spent 2 years riding around in the trunk of a car, fortunately in both instances, in it's original padded bag, and yet, somehow, still no chips in it. Certainly not a "cool" or "hip" guitar, but a reliable old workhorse....

My SG has been the favorite of all my guitars. I recently acquired a PRS, but to be honest I have not hardly played is since it arrived. I have had one set back after the other since it arrived, perhaps it is cursed? After finding out that my daughter has cancer, my hours at work are getting cut in 1/2 and now my best friend just had a heart attack and has been unconscious in the hospital with respiratory failure, I just have not been in the mood to play.

Blessings be upon you....can I say that in here???

I dont have a "REAL" SG anymore........I have SGSO's SG shaped Objects......and they are among my top 4 six string diversions.......does that count?

Besides I will probably HAVE another SG at some point ---or an EB bass.....or.......oh you get the picture

My first SG was bought new in 1964. A SG Special, the kind with P90's for you youngsters..... Sold it in '08( I think it was) and got an Epi 50th Ann model to keep me company. Nice, but not like my old one. Traded the Epi '61 copy and an '05 Epi LP Custom with bookmatched flamed top for a Fender Stratocaster last month. Do I miss either? No. Just lumps of wood, metal, and plastic. They're not people or pets. Material stuff doesn't matter. I am not sentimental about guitars. I do not call them "she" or "her" nor do I give them names. They're musical instruments. Tools. Nothing more. Not living beings.

I'm friends with all of my guitars Robert:cool: I hope that you are successful in making friends with all of yours.:D
My bass player though, he has some kind of drama going on with his left hand...I don't know...but I've caught him speaking sternly to it during rehearsals lately. Bass players, they're a funky bunch...

I have 2 Tele's, a Melody Maker '59, the '59 reissue LP JR. but I must say my first love is the '17 SG. I have had a thing for SG's since the 8th grade when I played one a friend owned. Yes I am one of the ones from the "other" forum also.

Indeed!!!!!

my wife says all musicians are wacky....

Raising these pickups to Angus Young's spec (thanks to Fil Oliveri of Solo Dallas for the specs taken directly from Angus's guitars) really changed the SG in a good way.

My pickups are now only 3/32"-4/32" from the strings.

The tone is much fuller and single string notes sound much bigger.
