Malcolm Young's Amp Settings

Which ones? From my understanding is that Steve is using Malcolm's amps?
9/9/16 I was there but Malcolm wasn't RIP :( I am waiting to see with the rumors of Brian wanting to do one more tour!

They have there own power supply conditioner to dial in the exact voltage they need for max performance. DAMN!!!
I keep all my amps running thru a power conditioner but I can't set voltage with it :(
It's more for safety honestly as this house is old and I just replaced the fuse box but need to rewire a couple rooms as they have to much on a couple breakers so I want to make sure they are getting good power or not overloading a breaker lol :BH: It's paid for though :celebrate:

I have a confession to make: I don't understand why there is so much flap about the Young Brothers' tone 'secrets' with players. I mean, their sound is fine, but in my brain's catalog of guitar sounds they come up somewhere around Generic Hard Rock Tone, which is a sound I hear drenched all over recordings from the mid-70's to mid-80's. Meaning, I don't hear anything particularly unique or special about their sound, and I can't figure out why so many people seem enthralled with it to the point of chasing it. Can anyone enlighten me?

I do agree, but you may have just kicked a hornets nest. When I think of stand out tone Mark Knopfler, Eric Johnson, Johnny Winter come to mind for me.

I agree.
I see no big deal there.
Same thing with EC's "woman tone".
You plug an HB equipped guitar into a Marshall,
turn the guitar tone control counterclockwise and there it is.
These tones are readily available so what's all the fuss about with them?

While I'm rolling...

For example :
The solos in Crossroads...
What is the big fuss all about?
There are at least half a dozen people right here
in this forum that can play them note for note.

"Clapton is God!!"
Horseypoop.
He's just another really good guitar player.
They are all over the place.

(I say they rather than we because I am not.)

I feel better now....
:)

I love the tone, but I'm not personally looking to acquire it. I think lots of AC/DC fans, guitar players, love the music so much that the "Tone" becomes one in the same as the music. If you separate the two, Music vs Tone, ya I guess the tone is just somewhat common for the era. Two distinct factors play a role though....One, they crank it. Two, and the most important, Style. There are several Angus leads that I can play note for note.....there isn't any amount of tweaking on amps and pedals that is going to get me to be AC/DC.....But, hopefully close!
