When I worked in Memphis for a few weeks many years ago, I had the pleasure of working with an older African American gentleman who was a Navy Vet station up around Brunswick, Maine. When I told him where I live, and that I liked to go to Maine to get away from people, he said I am "blessed to live in god's country." Every time someone gave me crap about living in the cold northeast, he jumped right up and said "You don't get it!" I've thought of him often over the years, because he was such a nice guy to work with. Hope he's well.
