Made A Rookie Mistake:

Inspector #20

Ambassador of Tone
Fallen Star
Country flag
Hooked up my rig and switched everything on. Strummed a few chords and realized I forgot to connect the head to the speaker like a dumbass!!!!!! Volume was up at its usual 7-8 on the dial and all FX were switched on.

I understand the Origin has a dummy-load that enables the line-out feature to be used, but I am concerned about damage resulting from my mistake.

Thoughts, amp Gurus???

Well, I haven't been able to test it yet without a full band, so it is technically working....but you can't hear "details" in our mix...

More than a few times, like the dumas i am at times....cause of the cab switches for finding the sound daily. ..Most recently on the Mesa 50 caliber the day i got it... It made my stomach turn..."what did i do?"

So far so good over the years

WHAT!

HOW COULD YOU?

Do you have any idea what you’ve done?!?!

You‘ve opened a rift in the space-time continuum and now orcs from middle earth will penetrate the wormhole, created by the temporal disturbance in sub-space, bringing certain destruction to everything in sight!

**************

Or....

...you could just plug the cabinet into the amp and just not do that anymore.

That's too simple...

Don’t worry about a thing , I did the same thing when Scott and his buddy tried out his new head on my stack, and they didn’t plug my speaker cable back in !
This was over a year ago.
Second time was a bad speaker cable, and I first started rolling preamp tubes to find the problem.
Then I went to instrument cables.
Then I tried the speaker cable and found the problem ,,, this was about 8 months ago, no problems with either one !!
You are good to go , these babies are built tough.
Cheers
Mitch

It says in the factory manual:
"Additional functionality such as the foot switch gain boost, effects loop, and ability to run the amplifiers without a speaker load, make the Origin range exceptional for the modern player. "

But normally for an everyday tube amp, a speaker would be connected.
We would not run the every day tube amp without a speaker.
