Agreed.
I mean using their celebrity as a basis for credibility of their view, or of the issue itself in political discourse, or as a bludgeon to those that simply disagree.
Paul said something recently regarding US affairs and it appeared (to me anyway) he was minimally informed of maybe just the talking points on the issue.
Which often translates to intentionally misinformed or misled.
I said to the tv, "I love you man, but you sound like a damned fool".
It may have been the national anthem / NFL thing.
He's not vindictive likes some.
He may have just been asked to comment on it and not have been advocating.
But anyway, yeah I wanted to smack him.
