LOXX Strap Locks, anyone use these?

I started using the Dunlop strap locks like, eons ago (all my local music shop had back then) & so now have them on all my guitars except my strat that came stock with Schaller's. I just came across these "LOXX" strap locks though, originally designed for attaching soft tops to convertible type cars & think that they really look to be a better mouse trap. Here's a pic of & a comparison to the Dunlop & Schaller types.C__Data_Users_DefApps_AppData_INTERNETEXPLORER_Temp_Saved Images_loxxcr1.jpg V__9A2C.jpg
They are rated to withstand a 220lb loading. I like how they put the strap much closer to the guitar body than the Dunlop's & (to a lesser extent) the Schaller's. So, has anyone used these locks? Thoughts? Oh, they're also a little cheaper than the other two. Cheers

I stopped using straplocks many, many moons ago. Hate them.

This is the way to go for me now:

Work as good or better than any straplock and you don't have to screw any contraptions onto your guitar.

I know many people like the Grolsch washers & I have used them myself in the past, but many also like a good mechanical lock system. This LOXX system does appear to be the better of the mechanical types. Cheers

Those work just fine but can get tiresome if you take your strap off at the end of each session. Also, are those safe against nitro?

But the washer is a mechanical system. One that requires no modification to the guitar.

They take like, literally, 1 second to put on or take off. No more time than futzing with straplocks. And they don’t ever touch the guitar so no issue with nitro.

C’mon, these things are the preferred method for guys with real bursts, there’s not a chance they would use them if they were prone to failure (like straplocks) or gonna mess up the guitar.

I've noticed that with the Dunlop strap lock button installed the same is possible (though I still have the locks on the straps). Both my SG & LP came with the small Gibson buttons. My strat came stock with the Schallers & my Jackson with the Dunlop. Next time I place an order with the supplier that carries these LOXX I'll probably grab some to try. Cheers

I don't like any of the detachable systems, personally.

Since I am an at home player and don't drink beer, I use Fender rubber washers.

If I were still gigging, I would use more permanent, more fool/fail proof than commercial strap locks. JMHO.

I like the Schaller style locks for my Fender, and LP style guitars.
However, I can't stand the little buttons jabbing me in the gut from the SGs, behind the neck heel, position. So I tried out the Grölsch washers, and I am a convert. Every year, I pick up a four pack for a hockey night, and replenish my stock. It's a tough job, but I can handle it.
I don't think I'm interested in any other methods of strap retention any more.

This was what I was wondering about, kinda thing. Maybe I should'a used google. Cheers

I think there is at least one thread on MLP. The ball end of the lock wore excessively. I think it compromised the ability for the locking mechanism to engage. I could also see it causing the ball end to break off. Not good scenarios.

To LOXX credit, I do believe the sent new locks and vowed to investigate the failure.

I like the EVH solution, too. :D

The Zakk Wylde solution too. I just did a quick google search & first up was the MLP forum thread "Do Not use LOXX strap locks", you know the one mdubya. Seems like EVERY method of strap locking has first hand reported failures, & yes, that is even the GROLSCH method. So Smitty_p's method I think. Cheers

Just keep in mind, oversize buttons can present a little more of an effort if you make a practice of removing your strap from the guitar after using it. Once I get the strap adjusted how I want it, I never take it off the guitar, so it's not a problem for me.

I've ordered the oversize buttons for my LP Studio project, too.
