My Allen Amps Chihuahua. Built from a kit. It's a Class A single-ended tube amp, operating at 6 watts with a single 6V6GT. The output tranny is capable of 10 watts, and by replacing a couple power resistors and switching the output tranny's impedance speaker lead, I can operate this amp with a 6L6 or EL34. The amp circuit is based on a Blackface Champ, but there are some added modern extras designed into the circuit by David Allen. The extras are: Tube driven Reverb (9", 3 spring tank), beefier speced trannies, a Mid/Raw control that can also be activated with a footswitch, and a Master Volume control. I also opted for a 10" speaker instead of the usual 8".

I cant stand those little yappy dogs! :D

I have a DST Engineering U84TNT that's a great little amp. Switchable between 2 and 8 watts with 2 EL84s and 2 12ax7s. It's got a great sound, and actually gets pretty loud. I use it with a Sovtek 2x12 with Eminence speakers. Someday, I'll have Bob's old partner Jeff make me a matching 2x12 cab to load with a couple of spare Celestions that I have sitting around.

We have 3 Chihuahuas.....and a Chihuahua/Pug mix....(call her a CHUG) --they are great little radar machines-----you see the 3 large 100 lb rip your face off dogs sleep hard---the Chihuahuas do not---
so they BARK --- and WAKE THE BEASTS -- and then if your NOT supposed to be in the house ------ you wont be for long ;)

I was hoping you would show up in this thread. And what I was really hoping for... was for GUT SHOTS... :fingersx: Have you ever looked inside? You're a lucky Mofo for owning a couple of DST amps. Why did Mr. Bob stop building amps?

I'm sure I have some photos somewhere. The inside is as impeccably wired as my other two amps, or anything else Bob does.

I hope I'm not out of line, but he told me he didn't need to do DST anymore because his boys were done with college and he had his real job to deal with. DST was originally a second job. For a side project, he did some remarkable stuff. Now he spends more time with his wife enjoying life.

I think that is very selfish on Bob Dettorre's part, to deprive us nerds from some glorious amps. Hopefully grandkids will kick in, and he'll restart amp builds again!

I have never built a kit amp but have built 151 scratch builds so far.

I did buy my sister in law a Friedman Runt 20 best sounding amp in it's price range in Auckland NZ.

I did look at the parts in her new amp cheap parts I did not get a photo but this is a 15 watt Friedman DS 15

Sorry to hear about your wife, man - my condolences...
Lost my mom a few years back (messed with my dad a lot) and lost my dad last year - miss them both.

Cool deal on the page owned amp - I'm pretty sure it's the first time I've seen that one.

How'd the gig go?
