Love!

I've lived to discover that Rickenbackers are the coolest guitars in the world... To look at.

Playwise? Nope. Not for me.

My wife has one and so does my son, they BOTH love theirs.
Rickenbacker doesn't export to Australia so when I eventually order one it will have to be from studying specifications and secondly the all important looks :-)
I did see measurements on one a little wider at the nut than most, that took my eye.

I'm not saying they aren't good, you know... My girl's uncle plays one and loves it, he bought it in California in the early 90s.

They're just not for me.

Just so you know, Rickenbacker, (just like Fender) is located here in sunny SoCal. We are swamp free here on this side of the world. Just sayin.

I have 2 questions.

I have never played a Rickenbacker plugged into an amplifier.
I know. That's not a question. It's the reason for the questions.

1- What does the 5th dial (the little one) do?
2- What is the pickup selection process on the 3 pickup ones?

Thanks much.
I had pulled up the schematic
at their site but this clarifies it.

You're welcome.
Actually I couldn't answer your questions without looking it up. Both Rickenbackers in the family are 12 string, other than when each arrived I don't attempt to play them. My memory of the 5th control is that it creates a more intense/fuller tone but the factory link explains how to get the most from it.

Quote from post #8 "I did see measurements on one a little wider at the nut than most, that took my eye". I just remembered it is the Pete Townshend reissue.

RICKENBACKER MAKES GUITARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????
