So I was feeling low on vitamin "C" since I sold my Micro Terror ---things being what they are -- CASH is a bit at a PREMIUM these days so MOST ORANGE AMPLIFICATION offerings are ---well OUT of the price point--

A LITTLE research in the google vein did however bear fruit (this is PUN filled fun here kids) -- the CRUSH line of which I have owned the 20 and the 35 RT models (and a couple bass models) offers GREAT tone at "reasonable" prices-- however I didnt need all that fancy "tuner" and "reverb" stuff (have those thanks) -- so I zeroed in on tone --- and USEABLE options......and behold
a CRUSH 12 -- (12 SS watts of fury) pumpingthrough a ......6 (yes six) inch speaker -- btu loaded with
Vol
Treble
mid
bass
OVERDRIVE
and
GAIN
hhmmmmmmmmmthats a LOT of potential "skin" in the game ----so the hunt was on
and ---I scored one for under 75.00-- (yes) -- and well---

TBTH -- when it got here and I plugged it in -- it sound about like a gnat stinker on steroids in a metal Scooby Doo lunch box -----but.........I didnt not care-- taht actually was the EXPECTED tone.....thin plasticish...crappy---
MY diabolical plan -- to achive ORANGTACULAR YUMMIENESS for cheap----- invloveld a ..........input jack and BY PASSING the (wonderfully horrible ) 6 inch speaker (why do they even MAKE those? --- its bad -- it really is --not AS BAD as the DUAL 2.5 inch speakers in this

(more on this later and a "cool" mod ;)

ANYWAY---
so-- run wires from small 12 watt juice box -- to a jack-- plug ............(wait for it) this into the PEAVEY 12" SPEAKE FROM the HOLY LAND OF AMPLIFICATION (Mississippi )

and.............................................................

its a FOOGIN RIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sounds fat full and dripping with orange juicy goodnes!!!!
yes yes pics--- here ya wolves!

SO in closing--- for LESS than a "pedal" that claims to sound like an orange Amp -- you can get AN ORANGE amp--for HOME use
NO it will NOT CUT THROUGH A MIX (you people and your cutting through MIXES)
NO you will not "gig" with a drummer with it -- its 12 "F"-in watts--
NO you will not play the Albert Hall with it---where any of you REALLY going to play the Albert Hall??? really???
NO it will not get the cops called on you or your wife to cut off your man marbles in the middle of the night ---
YES -- its stupid fun for under 75.00 WITH (or without) your clothes on
YES--its sound great
YES--its got enough power to MOVE a 12 inch Peavey speaker
YES--it CHUGS!
YES--its raining and I was bored./

this guy should plug it into a good speaker......his mind would implode..................
I have done the same mod you did to a MG 30, cool as hell to be able to plug the little guys into a proper cab and let them sing.
Yes a cheap guitar input jack wired up to the stock speaker connection. Then just use a speaker cable and your good, as long as you have kept the polarity correct.
Cheers

Yep
I first stumbled upon this concept MANY moons ago (Goo was involved) it was EARLY in our membership at a different forum---
Took a little Danelectro HONEYTONE
1594551899933.png

And ran the headphone OUT into a BOSE Sound Doc home sound system................it was an ENLIGHTENING experience.

I believe our own @Hackmaster uses a honeytone paired with a 1x10 cabinet as his daily "test" rig in his Little Shop of Greatness ...

I also have a previous Hack amp-- Roland Microcube with the speaker jack mod-- and it sounds great by itself (very nice at low volume) plug into a 12 and it sounds beyond amazing. Rich full deep tone

The Modern Solid Stae amps have come a LONG way from the days of old
Peavey Transtube tech
Marshalls Valvestates
and obviously ORANAGE Crush tech--- give very tube like emulation (close enough for most applications)

The gain and overdirve are TIGHT -- perfect Meatl tones--I know the Fender SuperChamp above gets lovely tones -- wonderful blues and rock tube driven tone -- but when you push it to CHUG -- it gets a little "farty"

So when i want to chug I use the others :)

the output jack is to low volume from the headphone -- that would work into a POWERED system (Like the bose) but not straight into a speaker

NOPE no soldering the "clips" from the amps speaker connection mounted right up to the input jack lugs -- slid right on -- work perfectly --- ZERO soldering ;)

Took me longer to find the input jack in my drawers of parts--- than it did to actually MAKE the switch

NOW -- to be clear this involved disconnecting the Orange stock speaker --- which was fine with me I do not intend to use it -- I do have a proper jack on order that will allow the operation of the internal speaker when NOT plugged in to the larger cabinet...for now its a "test" fix the permanent fix WILL involve some soldering -- drilling and long term install of the input jack -- currently its just "rigged"

So entertaining! Britishy SS amps can be totally crippled by lame speaker configuratin' and needs some BOOMificaton to speak righteously.
Sometimes with some help an SS amp is just a total win. I love the Vox P-finder 15R so much, I ended up with two of them, but they needed some dickery.

Re-housed my first one to become frontal controlled in an 10" old bass combo box which I jimmied a big ol' eminence 12 into, there then tweedled it.

Trouble was, then I had an empty Pathfinder shell kicking around. Lucky me, another 15R comes up for sale for fordy loonies (that's like $8 'merican).
I buys it up, lose the 8" bulldogs, drop in a couple of vintage CTS alnico 10s from some old organ or whatever, and it become the "Stackfinder."

Messing with SS amps is good clean fun. Out for a rip, just givin'er, bud. :2Thumbs:

NO you will not "gig" with a drummer with it -- its 12 "F"-in watts--

12 watts can get the job done, depending on the setup. My 12 watt Princeton is absolutely loud enough to gig with even through the 10” speaker, and if you plugged it into a 2x12 or 4x12 it would be formidable (and of course there’s the old adage that f your band is too loud for a Princeton your band is too loud). Sure, it’s not really fair to compare SS to tube watts, but I owned one of those Crush 12’s at one point and it sounded great and was stupid loud through the tiny stock speaker, so I figure through the right cab would make a pretty righteous racket.

Yes....it was "functional" (and LOUD) through the stock 6" -- but LOUD tone isnt always GOOD tone--- plus I tend to lean BASS heavy (Im not into the ICE picky shrill ear splitting highs that some LOVE and seek) the lil stocker was a bit to THIN for my liking ;)
