LOOPER? I THOUGHT THAT WAS A CADDY!?!?

Rather than spend another couple of grand on an other guitar, I though I might invest in a looper.
We all have stuff in our heads that aren't always dryer lint. And usually, they come at the worst times.
That said, I'm thinking of getting a looper. Specifically, a BOSS RC-505.
It has a lot of stuff I need: MIDI, multiple tracks, built in beats, plenty of inputs, blah blah blah.
Does anyone have any experience with this particular unit, or any other unit that they like?
I've grown quite frustrated with the music I'm making with my friends. I'm a multi-instrumentalist and I think this would be far easier to have around for quick ideas than the DAW setup I currently have.
Any ideas? Suggestions? Comments?
As an aside, I damn near bought a 1975 Gretsch Country Gentleman, signed (allegedly by Chet himself) for A LOT. I think a good looper is worth the $$$.
 
Can’t help ya with the 505. I had a 500 for about a week a few years ago. Never could make it work right. I think it was broke. Bought used from GC. But I don’t need all the inputs and interface. I’ve made the RC 1 work since then. I just need simple loops.

I wanted a desk top model that's why I chose it. I'm sure there's one hell of a learning curve :BH:

My Kemper has a looper built-in, but I have yet to put it to good use.
Maybe cuz layering more crap playing on top of my crap playing would equal... well... more crap! :X3:

I’ve goofed around with mine, on the Kemper, a while back. It works well, but (IMHO) its limited loop length leaves/left a bit to be desired. I’m not sure if it has been addressed in an update since then.
 
I have so much recording stuff: DAWs, boards, tape. I never get anything done.
All I want is to get an idea, press record, and be done with it. Thousands and years later, I still can't accomplish that.
I have been working a nice jazzy idea all day. In a perfect world, it would already be on tape. In my world, I will likely forget it in the morning.
Ima get this done, dammit!

Option Paralysis. When I retired, I sold off about 80k worth of recording gear, and didn’t touch a knob or keyboard for months. Now my studio consists of my trusty Mac filled with samples and VI, a Focusrite Solo, and Logic Pro. I am much more relaxed in my new mini-studio.
 
I’m selling my Katana & Airstep rig to fund a cheap bass guitar (an Ibanez SR400). I’ll get way more use from a bass than a Katana now that my band ceased operation and I’m recording direct with the Enigmatic. I don’t let gear pile up anymore. If I’m not using it, it goes.

That’s all I do , HX Stomp in to Reaper.
It does everything. BFD player for drums, record guitar bass and keyboard when needed. I don’t really need a looper. I never run out of room for tracks.

IMHO, and please, take this as, well, whatever. Experience, maybe.
Let me put this another way... I have a Yamaha BB bass that a friend of mine lent me at least 10 years ago, Beautiful guitar. Good build quality, a pleasure to play. I've asked her multiple times if she would like it back. She always says, "No, she has a good home." Truth be told, I haven't touched it in 5 years at least. For me, the only thing it's good for is slap/pick funk.
I bought myself a MIM Fender P Bass about three years ago for not a lot of $$$.
Again, IMHO, you will not hate it! It's everything you could possibly want in a bass guitar. I put on a set a LaBella flats (a la James Jamerson). It records like a dream. Put a little felt on the bridge (a la Carol Kaye). Feels great in the hands. Perfect neck. A true joy to play. You won't want to put it down!
MY friend Jimmy, who doubles as my bass player has a Ricky 4001, a Gibson Thunderbird, and a fretless Jazz bass, and he always goes back to my P.
Ima shut up now
 
I owned a Precision Deluxe for many years and really liked it, but this time I wanted something slightly different. The SR400 I ordered has a P & J set of pickups, so I expect the same kinds of tones I got from my PDeluxe, but with a slimmer, easier-to-play neck.
