Looking to upgrade my cabs...

HNCD!
Pics?

Well, it doesn't look right yet, I have to get my head cab redone, but yeah, here you go...

I had in mind to keep the black with white lettering front control plate on it and turn the cab black, I think it'll look like they were made for each other once that's done.

Ok wow, so much has happened in the last couple of weeks with the storms I forgot I even made this thread. Well how about an update? So I'm still liking the Mojotone cab. I've swapped every speaker I have in it probably 3 times :rolf2: and finally settled on a Creamback 65. It won, but a surprising close second it the WGS ET65 I bought way back that I hated then, but it sounds really good in the MT cab. I think if I can ever get it broke in it'll probably be better than the 65.

Then last weekend my good friend @fitz turned me on to a Marshall AVT 112 cab at Guitar center for an outstanding price. At first I said no, if it's not ply I don't want it. But then after some research and a couple of positive comments from Fitz and another guy, and then realizing it was from GC so I can return it in person if I don't like it I decided to snag it. I've had it a couple of days now and it sounds really good. I was afraid it would be no different than my MX cabs but it's very different and blows the MX cabs away. It's MDF, but it's an oversize cab, I guess that might have something to do with it. Whatever it is, I've got my G12C Greenback in it and it sounds great! It also sounds good paired with the Mojotone cab running both.

As you can see, I've got my Halloween decoration out.

Congratulations on the positive cab experience!!! Glad to hear you’re finding your new cabs more satisfying!

So now I'm really confused about what make a cab sound good. I thought it was ply vs MDF, but now that theory is shot.
There’s math involved in mating speakers to cab spacial volume. Materials can still come into play, especially where road wear is concerned. I have one MDF guitar cab, and I like it. It’s my Orange PPC112, and it makes a great home for my WGS Greenberet.

And I repeat....

Fussy, fussy, fussy. :pound-hand:

I am, I know I am. A lot of it has to do with my hearing and I know you know all about that. I'm not fussy, my ears are. I have really bad tinnitus and if a cab has a pronounced high end or fizziness it can drive me crazy. That's why I can't use el84 amps. At the same time getting rid of the fizzies can end up with a blanket over the speaker effect. Also bass frequencies can really mess with my ears. I forget to mention that stuff in these threads. Thanks for bringing me back down to reality.

I didn't mean to pee on your parade brother.

I'm somehow not that picky... or maybe not that discerning! :) Very little difference to me.
They seem to work together, to me.
You play live and base your opinions on a band situation correct? I'm a strictly at home player and almost never play along with anything. I would think that makes a huge difference. I'm trying to find "my tone" as a stand alone. I think that's why I'm having such a hard time and why I'm so "fussy fussy fussy".

I am right there with you Steve, same issue. It sucks. Probably why I use the Stomp more. Lots of options for cabs, mics and such.
Many YouTubers are using cab IR’s for tone.
