Looking for TV/movie recommendations

Succession on HBO is pretty good and they are on season two so you can binge watch season one if you like it...

You've seen it, Sp8?

I had just watched it on YouTube prior to posting. I used to be a skater back in the day before the "Ollie" was invented.

I have quite a few nice skate vids and movies on DVD. I still have a cruiser board, but I'm getting to nervous of falling to ride it!

Sp8, what exactly is a cruiser board? Remember, I am only a few years your Junior so I know before and after the Ollie.
My main ride from 1978 till now is this, but I have gotten a few modern boards here in the 2010's. I grew up going down hills, then trying tricks like 360's, daffys, handstands, catamarans, kick flips, walkin the dog, and other freestyle stuff. Then it was on to Alva 1.jpgramps and parks and drainage ditches.

A cruiser for me is something akin to a shorter long board. Mine has the trucks dropped through the board to get it low to the ground. It has wide trucks and fat wheels.
The deck is made of bamboo with a Kevlar sheet pressed in the middle. It's strong, but flexible.

Just something to ride up and down the boardwalk at the beach or around town. Not stable enough for serious downhill and too big for tricks...

I'll post some pics later.

My board is based on this one, but I did a cut out and dropped my trucks through the top to lower the deck. Same exact shape and wide type wheels. I think mine is about 34"

Thanks Chris, I was wondering because I saw an ebay ad for a NOS type Roskopp Santa Cruz complete board and it was described as a cruiser. Well when Rob skated vert, I would not have considered his type setup as cruiser, so I was confused.

I did a lot of 1/2 pipes / skate park time with a Sims Lonnie Toft board, whatever wide trucks and wheels were popular then (Kryptonics, maybe), and some big patches of Pizza Tape.

M is my fav film in B/W, Fritz Lang was a genius before his time. That's a big claim, I know, but it's so good. Any Werner Herzog film is great too, but Fitzcarraldo is tops for me. If you watch that, keep in mind there are no special FX and everything was actually accomplished by the actors in the movie...simply unbelievable at times. I'm a huge Rainer Werner Fassbinder fan as well so almost anything he did is must see too, but he's more of an acquired taste.

As far as TV shows:
The Man In The High Castle is very interesting. Also Trailer Park Boys is good for watching over and over - almost in any order.
The man in the high castle was a good show, but the ending left me with more questions...

Don't all good stories do that? At least that's my preference.

My pops is who got me into P.K. Dick amongst other scifi visionaries like Asimov and more recent guys like Neal Stephenson - his books would make great movies but none have so far been adapted, to my knowledge. Snow Crash and Cryptonomicon are begging for big screen exposure. Many of these guys raise more questions about technology, and its role in our many potential futures, than they answer. That's part of the allure of scifi.
There's a series called Electric Dreams also on Amazon, it's an anthology series all based on Dick's work. I thought that one was pretty good as well.

Star Trek: Picard is turning out to be pretty good, although not really what I had anticipated given the background of the franchise. I'm kind of a nerdy trekkie lol

Watched another series a while back called Humans, thought it was good.

So it's not a nerdy Trek. There's no explanations about how reconfiguring the forward sensor array will allow us to punch through the quantum interference? No thanks then. I was already off the fence about having to pay for it but I likely will not be watching it now.

The Expanse was good. I binged the whole series in a week after someone mentioned it. Dark, on Netflix, turned out to be one of the all time best shows I've ever seen. Period.
I haven't heard too much technobabble yet, but to be fair, I'm only halfway through the season. Another thing that surprised me was the use of strong language in this series. It just doesn't seem right that Starfleet officers are using the F word. Not that I'm complaining. That's one of my favorite words. I may or may not have resorted to pirating this one, in order to avoid having to pay to watch it....but it ain't on Netflix or Prime

Yeah, the Expanse is one of the best ones I've seen recently. Can't wait for the next season.

Altered Carbon is pretty good too, season 2 recently released.

Scrolled right past Dark a bunch of times, I'll have to check it out.
