Looking for TV/movie recommendations

Clint Eastwood...

‘Nuff said.

I’m partial to The Outlaw Jose Wales, Pale Rider, and High Plains Drifter.

Hang ‘Em High is also good, as is Joe Kidd.

As for TV recommendations...I have no clue. I haven’t watched a complete episode of anything on TV in years.

How about some classic movies?

Go here for the 1931 "Count Dracula". Keep in mind, this movie was an adaptation of a play, which was an adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel.

So, there are a number of places where this movie differs from the novel.

But, it is the quintessential Dracula movie with Bela Lugosi.

I will also add...there is a certain growth curve to appreciating a classic black-and-white movie. Once you get into them, they are terrific!

I used to watch I Love Lucy and Perry Mason all the time. B&W don't bother me.

When I was a kid, my parents took our TV away for like 6 years lol

They had a little b&w TV they'd let us watch for special occasions, like when we had to stay home sick from school.

Okay...so you're past the black-and-white hurdle.

That's good. Many folks just get stymied by that.

Their loss.

You really do need to watch the 1931 Dracula, as well as the original Frankenstein and Wolfman. The original Humphrey Bogart Casa Blanca would be good, too.

Check out the original Godfather and Good Fellas.

For some real trippiness check out Full Metal Jacket.

These are true classics

Ignore the current TV tripe.

This is a screen shot when Bela Lugosi first comes into full view in Dracula.

This movie is a "Must-See".

It isn't as "scary" as many modern movies, but it is very ominous. Old-time horror was less about raw fear as much as it sought to capture suspense and anticipation.

This image captures every characterisation that we'd ascribe to the Dracula persona. He is refined, elegant, genteel, courteous, yet sinister and deadly. Modern movie-making comes across to me as clumsy and ham-fisted, by comparison.

This is an irreproducible moment.
