Line-6 Amps:

So, last night...I experimented a bit with the Line 6. I discovered why it worked out so well for us.

First of all, I need no effect pedals. I have digital delay (fully programmable) and even a built in noise gate. All I run is a volume pedal. Compact and simple.

Second, with my relatively low output pickups, I can obtain a gain level that would otherwise require me boosting a tube amp with a dirt pedal.

The 4x12 Jackson cabinet - I'm already looking for a second one - really gives me a lot of presence and projection.

So, it's my most simple setup to date.

HOLY BISCUITS!!!

I know everyone bags on Line 6...but let me say this...my dual-output 75 watt Spider II run into two 4X12 Jackson cabinets sounds HUGE!!!!!

I only have "limited" experience with the line 6 stuff--
I can say nothing "negative" about it--
it sounds good-- looks good etc.
It just ---well never seemed to fit the NEED for ME at the time-- but I have liked the ones I played...

The issue-- is -- as I am honest with myself-- the Modeling amps--- are -- COMPLICATED -- and well.... Im over complication-- my favorite amp is the Hartke 600B-- I have not adjusted a KNOB on that thing in at least 2 years---maybe more--
I plug the bass in adjusting volume tone etc with the bass.....and the amp just goes BOOM -- this is becoming more and more to my liking --

but -- I could see ----if I have a momentary lapse of sanity--OR find one at a yard sale for 20.00--- me owning a line 6 amp ;)

Exactly the thing about the modeling stuff I hate - complexity.

The Spider II HD 75 is super simple. No preset modeling. No banks. No patches. It has chorus, flange, phaser, delay reverb and noise gate with simple knob controls. It has a master volume, gain knob with bass, middle and treble.
One input, line out and dual external speaker jacks. No effects loop, no reverb tank. Runs cool and quiet, lightweight too.

It has 4 channels:

Clean
Crunch
Metal
Insane

I just setup the channel with what I want and save it. That's it. Easy.

Best part is you can buy them brand new - floir demos at Guitar Sinner- for $79.00. Pasadena GS has one. I saw it today.

I've played through an SIR marked Marshall with some crazy, highly sought after mod, and my HD 75 and two 33 year old Jackson cabinets just killed it...and not just for metal tone, but the noise gate and delay just can't be beat for simplicity and quality of my signal. The damn thing just sounds good....

good sounds ----simply--- a nice thing to have

I totally get that its a made in China amp. But, TBTH, Ive had Super Leads and they were not as user friendly or reliable, not to mention far more valuable, heavier and they didn't even have reverb.

I've got a nice Marshall DSL40C and Weber attenuator that I never uncover anymore.

Its easy street for me, Bro...you may not be able to drool over my pics of a JTM45, but im making the same $$$ I was with an amp that cost me more than 10 times the cost of my entire 8 x 12 rig...
