Lighten weight on a LP

As all you know my back is piss of. I broke nine vertebrae in a motorcycle accident.
I'm thinking lighten weight on my '18 LP Classic. It sounds amazing but It's a heavy guitar. That weights 4,8 Kg (10,5 pounds). My back can handle a '12 LP Standard because It has modern weight relieve.

I'm thinking that I can remove wood from the body on pots hole. Milling the sides and making holes with a drill at 90 degrees. In such a way that nothing is visible when I put the plastic lid back on.

Sugestions? Tips?

Thanks .

There's this kind of system, which, I agree is really really ugly, but Matt from Trivium seems to think that this helps with his back. Perhaps using something like this might save you from needing to carve up a nice gold top LP like that one!

Yep. Get Well-Hung straps to design one!!

I really have no suggestions.
That is a bummer that the motorcycle accident has left you with such a burden.
Just play it in shorter amounts of time.
And try a V they are not as heavy.. and they can sound tremendously good.

I have padded and wide straps that help a lot but it is not the solution. I can play it for a while but I quickly get tired. If could take a pound off it would be great. I'm thinking about what to do but I have nothing decided. It hurts me a lot ruin this guitar. Before the accident his weight was not a problem.

That looks as good an idea as any. Or drill outwards from the pickup cavities? That way no external holes to seal?

I was in a near fatal accident ether build up the mussels to support injury could take years
or get a light weight weight guitar my 3.5 pound Parker Fly Deluxe worked for me
I have a Les Paul Custom 10+ pounds never play it I look for light weight guitars
when I'm in pain I set down on a chair even on stage so I don't look cool but I'm doing it
I have two Les Paul Standards 8.25 pounds it took me 8 years to be able to stand up on stage with them

Sorry about your accident. I know what you've been through. I'm playing this heavy guitar most part of time sitting on a couch. I usually play stand up all time.

This may help my drum teacher told me to sit straight on my drum throne like a spike was in the center of my head
keeping my spine straight down through my butt at band practice I sit down
My Parker guitar is a tone turd compared to my Les Paul I get it.
To play sitting down I need to have my back supported by something very soft like a sofa. I play more comfortable standing and walking a bit.

My wife's skating coach is always emphasizing good posture. No matter if skating, or anything else you do. When skating, she always says to imagine a pole from your head, through your butt, to your ankles. Knees will be slightly bent, and shoulders should be back and relaxed. She also says to "Squeeze George", or to imagine a dollar bill squeezed in your butt cheeks. You should also walk like this, and do what ever it takes to maintain a good, straight posture, and to not slouch.

When I'm on the ice goofing off when my wife practices, I just stroke around and can barely do a three turn or two foot spin, but my posture makes me look like a better skater than some of the actual competitors. Their coaches will actually tell them to watch me skate. The only time my C4-C6 neck discs and pinched Ulnar Nerve are not in pain, is when I'm perfectly upright with my head and shoulders back in a proper position.
