LMAO! Well, my first trip through Texas trapped me in a little town called Shamrock when I was moving across the country. Blew out a tire on the Interstate and barely limped in there.

I've been to Texas a few more times all for work. My days were spent sleeping and my nights locked inside a Mall. So my experience hasn't been stellar with Texas.

With all that's going on in the world, FR is right, I wouldn't last 5 minutes.

We will roll out the red carpet next time. There is a really good brew house just down the road from Casa del Gator.

Hard question to answer. One thing I do know, my current employer is not a place I'm happy at for the most part. They promoted one of my colleagues without even notifying our department that there was an open position. This new supervisor has zero idea how to conduct our job which is a shock they were even promoted. We have a management that is being railroaded by one of our Sales because the guy has brought in an account that tripled our business. Our company doesn't have the bandwidth to handle such account but here we are.

In the meantime, our installations have fallen to such low standards that I'm embarrassed to go onsite to fix the problems our group created in the first place. I've gone up the chain of command with all my concerns and no one has done anything to address the issues.

My big problem mostly, is that our Director of Engineering which is also one of the owners, designs around his comfort levels which is using techniques and technologies that are 10 years old. Our install group know them, but when it comes to anything outside of that, they are untrained and therefor have major problems implementing. I work with modern designs so I can't do things that the industry has moved onto because our organization can't handle it.

So, I can stay at a place that is super easy work, steady and remote work from home type stuff, at a modest income. Or, I can move on to a faster paced, higher level of company that wouldn't be as easy but could provide advancement and an actual challenge.

Update: The wife and I are about 80% sure I'm making the move over to the new company. Tonight I have a dinner/meet with another group that might be another opportunity but they'll have to come out swinging some big numbers for me to consider. Friday will be "decision" day for the new job.

New things happening at my current job, people are bailing left and right. We've lost three people in the last week from quitting, one that directly affects my job duties. My direct supervisor hasn't responded to many of my conversations, most of which are directed at projects I'm responsible for and now I'm stalled in completing my tasks. We have our weekly meeting today and I'll be bringing this up.

There have been lots of people bailing at my job since I started last September including a good Manager just quit.

Had a very interesting dinner with my old colleague tonight. Basically, he raved about getting me on board to his supervisor who was at the dinner. We all hit it off really well. They said they would be calling me on Tuesday to set up a meet with the head of the department and have an offer ready. So, that's going for me.

Son called me tonight and he's having some relationship issues that put a damper on the whole evening, but I'll take the wins when I can get them.
 
So, today I made the decision and signed the offer letter. From the second shop where my buddy works who took me out to dinner. More pay, WAY better benefits and I'll be working on building up a division as well.

I'm nervious AF, but looking forward to the next chapter.
