I recently turned 65 and I'm now looking into retirement. Considering the cost to live here in the USA, I am contemplating the move to another country. We do need to stay where we are at for now as my wife is the caregiver for her 89 year old mother. However I plan on purchasing some property within the next year and start having a home built so when the time comes, we have a destination to move too. I don't have an exact location yet, but it will more than likely be in the tropics, far away from the concrete jungle (Lost Angeles) that we currently live in.

Already built and waiting for you and all of your best friends...

:)
Candy is dandy
But Liquor is quicker
You can drink all the liquor down in Costa Rica
Ain't nobody's business but your own...

However Costa Rica is not a country we are looking into. Good guess however.

Man alive, we are nearly in similar scenarios Wav.

I am very close to retiring and looking to find a place. Abroad would be great but I would never see my kids . Albeit , they are in there 40's.

Just a quick FYI: the USD is $16.84 to the Mexican Peso right now. The pre-tax of the top 10% in Mexico is $136,896. So $10k USD puts you at $168,400, making it you instantly wealthy. I hear Tijuana is quite lovely this time of year! :pound-hand:

Good luck, Grant. This is a big deal!

I don't know where we are going to go, but we can't afford to stay in NJ.
The states we have been considering are growing rapidly and the housing prices have really gone up a lot.

AFAIK, lots of fed up Califonians are trying their luck in Arizona, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee!
