I have a friend who ordered a used acoustic thru GC, and something about the originality of certain parts wasn't disclosed. In response, GC did sweeten-the-pot by shipping him a free set of strings and a nice hard-shell case... (y)
 
When one of the employees saw it sold, he probably removed the tuner in hopes of getting it on clearance for himself. For $50 with original case and new strings it should worth buying a new set of tuners

Often times you can call Peavey Directly and get certain things (barrell jacks for instance)

or -- HELL its a PEAVEY --- slap anything on there--- The originals are very "Schaller" looking --- I also know the PUPS in my late 80's FOUNDATION Bass are Schallers. --- I think Peavey has worked with Schaller a good bit over the years....

Adrian, you gotta try an U-Bass. I have one, and thoroughly dig it. No need for a fretless model.
