Let's see your daily ride...

No more daily rides since retirement.
2012 Genesis gotta trade in. Maybe Genesis SUV coupe or Lexus SUV.

Back on Post #7 in this thread Link I posted my main ride. 07 Civic. Today was change oil day, Has anyone ever had to use a hammer and long screwdriver to get the filter to loosen? Normally I don't need to. I did today. Combination of procrastinating and these old man hands no longer having any grip...... because I know I didn't over tighten. And before y'all chastise me for procrastinating. After I retired, I went from 250-300 miles a week driving to barely 200 miles a month. Used to fill it every ten days. Now in every two months or more.

Proof in the pudding. Big ole hole in the side of the filter.

Pretty sure I've mentioned in another thread. But I've never had it so easy changing spark plugs. Five minutes if I hurry. Ten if I take a bathroom break.

I sure have, many times! I don't change my oil anymore, I let someone else do it. I just can't physically do it anymore, or anything else. I don't drive much anymore, my last oil change was may last year and it's only just now a couple of hundred miles past due. I've had my Tacoma 5 years now and I've only put 30,000 miles on it since I got it.

In case anyone forgot since page #1...

Been taking my wife’s SUV to the dealer for service. Have since we bought it in 2019. But I’ve serviced the Honda myself since buying it used in 13. I could take it to one of those quickly places. Just don’t want to. I was a mechanic for several years before I got put in the parts dept. in 1980. Several owners and types of businesses later, I retired in 2020 as a parts guy. But wrenching is in my blood. Changing my own oil is simply a way to stay engaged to a past life.

I take mine to the dealer also. When I bought the truck I bought a $300 deal for free oil changes, fluid check and refill and tire rotation for a certain amount of times or number of miles, I forget, but when it ran out last year I bought another. They also do a check list inspection every time and check the brakes and battery and all that. Totally worth it.

Our dealer offered this thing called Auto Butler. Basically. Twice a year bring it in and they detail it. Part of the purchase price and monthly payments. Valid as long as we own the car. And it was paid off several years ago and they’re still doing the Auto Butler no charge. But service is on us.

That's pretty cool! My Tacoma hasn't been detailed since the day I bought it. I run it thru the car wash several times a year, but that's all the cleaning it gets and car wash places suck. It needs a detailing desperately. Maybe when I take it in for an oil change in the next week or so I'll ask them about it and what they charge. The cheapest mobile car detailer around here is almost $200 for full interior/exterior detailing and I just have better things to do with $200.

Lol. I’ve had my civic since 2013 and it’s only ever been washed by Mother Nature. However. I just had the car parked under a tree for a few days and it got sapped pretty good. I may have to fire up the pressure washer and actually give it a bath.

I know all about that sap...it's about as bad as tar. And what about love bugs?...do you know what they are? I'm so glad we don't have them here, but they're really bad in the south. They'll eat the paint right off if you don't clean their guts off the front of your car.

They only come out to breed (hence the name) and they're attracted to exhaust fumes. Man, I hate these things!

Not aware of those in NE Illinois.

It has a hand off, auto lane change feature I’ll NEVER use
Oh yeah!
It also has the auto park with button on the fob, at least some versions do.
Here they offer complimentary scheduled maintainence during warranty period and will even come to your house to pick it up and return it.
