Let the Carnage Begin...

The guys from S-T will know what is going on here as I have posted about doing these since 2019. I was commissioned to mod a guitar with a new refin and inlaid Challenge coins from the PD that I work for. I normally do these for charity but I was asked to do one for an individual that wanted on to hang on the wall as a way to display some challenge coins that were designed to commemorate the KC Chiefs SB wins.

these are fun to do but they do take some time and a pretty good amount of testicular fortitude to cut holes all the way through the body and headstock to display both sides. It will also be finished in the official team colors of the KC Chiefs.

On Saturday, I started by cutting the headstock to fit the coin designed after the meme worthy Jason Kelce moment at the Chiefs/Bills game in the snow.

Then yesterday, I cut the body to fit the Arrowhead shaped coin for the Super Bowl LVIII win.

These two were the hardest and most intricate cuts I will have to make on this one.
Wow, you inlaid a Funko Pop! That's original.

Not much progress today but you only climb a mountain one step at a time.
Using a couple double cut files I beveled and curved the openings on the front of the body for all three coins. Then I started sanding one to smooth it out enough to make the grain filling easier.
I learned on the last one that the leveling makes the coins that are centered in a 1 3/4" thick body more visible.

After looking at it, I realized that it would be cool with another unplanned hole.
I found an extra coin jewel case that I filled with some leftover pieces of chopped confetti that I used in the paint job of last years donation piece. This confetti is from the Super Bowl LVII victory parade in KC.20240606_195853.jpg20240606_195942.jpg

So...
I haven't posted on a while but I finally got the 5th coin in for this build soon couple weeks ago. Been busy with several other projects, too so time on this one got cut a bit. Right now, I'm working on getting everything perfectly smooth before paint, though.
There will also be room left for the next coin when the Chiefs get the first ever three-peat!20240812_161709.jpg

Got home from work and went to the lab to make some more sawdust today. Today's cutting was relatively easy compared to yesterday and Saturday, though. Both coins for Super Bowl LIV & LVII are round making it quite simple.

If you look closely you can see the ridge that they will be resting on when I glue them in.

Now, I'll have to round over the edges and use some grain filler inside the cutouts a you can see pretty clearly in the second Pic.
I haven't decided yet but I'm thinking about putting some LEDs in it somehow.
For right now it will have to rest a bit while I wait on the newest coin to come in. That one is for Super Bowl IV.
That first photo looks like the guitar has googly eyes.

So I forgot that I started this thread. I finished it and delivered it a few weeks ago to a very happy customer. There are no stickers in this finish. It's all painted. There is also confetti from the SB LVII celebration parade, as well as 2 pieces from the LVIII game game field.
