No doubt a major musical inspiration to millions and to players everywhere.
I was growing up, Leslie was a guitar god. I learned a footing from listening to him; he was the earliest influence on my playing style for evermore. I suppose a lot of how I will always play electric guitar was just because of him.

Thats absolutely awful. He's had a rough patch in recent times and even lost his lower leg to diabetes complications. So its not good for him if hes on a ventilator.His brother is reporting heart failure, on a ventilator.
2020 is a majorshow.
An amazing guitarist and disgustingly underrated and overlooked. A huge figure of a man that generated a thunderous sound from nothing more than a SUNN amp and a Les Paul Jr. Very tasteful guitar tone. I wish him well

A person could make a whole study of just L.W,'s bending.
No tentative notes with that guy, very deliberate.
Sad situation, once a person starts losing limbs to diabetes it's a slow death.
Feel bad for Mr. West there's a story floating around the innerwebs of Leslie West playing with EVH.
Leslie was impressed with EVH's tone, guitars etc...
Came home the next weekend and Eddie had shipped, free of charge, two of every single product in the EVH line, pedals and all.
Even though he was Mr. Big Rawk Star, he was all fanboi with Leslie. Kinda says a lot right there for Mr. Wests abilities.

I remember reading about how Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains once asked EVH about his new Peavey 5150s and said " When you start selling these public, I'll be first in line to buy one!" He came home from a tour and there was an entire backline of them waiting for him and a MusicMan. Shows you how cool Eddie was to fellow guitarists.
What i love about Leslie is every guitar the dude played looks like a Ukulele in his big meaty hands:
he is like the Andre The Giant of guitar. And plus, he had one of the finest Afros this side of Queens, NYC lol

Haven‘t listened to quite a bit of my vinyl in years. I‘ve only recently started digging through it again. Wanted to listen to Nantucket Sleighride, and dug it out along with Mountain Climbing. I forgot there was all sorts of nice artwork, an illustrated lyric book, and a couple of nice 8x10s. The albums were so much cooler than cd.
R.I.P. LW you may not be here physically but you are still in the hearts of many.
So sad he is no longer with us but his life and playing has inspired many.

I have an older sister. In 1970 a boyfriend of hers left Leslie West: Mountain album at my house. I put it on and it changed my world, and gave me the impetus to keep playing when learning was really tough. I got to meet him and Felix over the years (separately) and consider myself very lucky. He could be prickly and he could be nice, he was very nice to me the couple of times I met him. Even played catch with a football with him in a NJ parking lot before a show in the early 80's. My sister worked with his brother's ex wife and Leslie used to send me CD's when she told him he had a fan. The guitarist that influenced me the most for sure. He was never the best. Never the fastest. But the greatest in my life. RIP Leslie.

This is why I still collect and listen to Vinyl. The whole experience of it all. Choose a record, take it out carefully
and put it on the turntable, sit back and go over the cover notes and any inserts while enjoying the music!
And no matter what anyone says...it still sounds better to me!
