Les is More

I love my Les Paul guitars. They do something special to any amp. I heard Les Paul speak and believed he was dangerous. I saw his grave covered with tons of concrete like they were worried about him getting out like the mummy. He ain't that type to escape a tome. I can relate tonight.
Hear about the guy with five peckers? His pants fit like a glove.

My question comes to the "LOG" --- wonder how it woulda sounded with a railroad tie?

I was thinking the same thing. There was a coyote sell train tracks and weird bird parts. I will try to get ahold of him.

When the Gibson SG came out in '61 (still called an LP until '63), Les Paul was a bit shocked and didn't like the design. But he insisted that the SG should be a neck-through the body for more durability. Of course that never happened.

I had a guitar teacher and she had Gibson SGs. I thought it was the most beautiful guitar on earth. I was asked not to come back after that lesson.

It puzzles me why Les didn't like the SG. I think the SG was Gibson's answer to Fender's Stratocaster. And the Les Paul guitar was Gibson's answer to Fender's Telecaster. That's me 2 cents.;)

It looks so much better that the Strat. The horns are even and all and all a better looking guitar. I love them and I never had one. I have no reason why but it just didn't happen.

Had the SG been introduced alongside the Les Paul of the time, I don't think it would have been an issue. But, it was introduced as a new design of the existing Les Paul, effectively replacing it.

The Stratocaster/Telecaster relationship was different. The Strat wasn't introduced to essentially replace the Tele. It was introduced as a new guitar, alongside the Telecaster.

If Gibson had not tried to redesign the Les Paul guitar, and had, instead, just introduced the SG as a new guitar, Les Paul likely wouldn't have cared one way or the other. In fact, he wouldn't have had any say, at all. Gibson could introduce anything they wanted. It's only Les Paul's name that gave Les Paul any cause (or right) for objection.
