Kudos to HackMaster and eSGEe (old sun speakers)...

The parts come in, but I'm thinking I should have got the aluminum cap the center vent. I'm just not sure the paper dust cap is looking right. It's just sitting there at the moment for a quick look see.

Thanks flatrockmobile - your vote/advice to use the paper cone makes three to use it and none not to - so, use it, it is...

...Back when i worked at the papermill we used this copper tinsel wire but it was called Static Wire used to combat static on machines that ran paper for paper products.

Hmm, you know, I wonder if the static thing is one of the reasons they use it for speakers too.

Got it all soldered and glued up. Getting the tinsel wire and coil wire to adhere good with the solder was kind of a pain, but I got it. The glue seems to pull itself flat as it dries. I didn't like the partial black ring around the rim, so I tried my had at putting a ring of glue around the outside edge of the lip too. Now, it has to dry real good. I may spray it with a light coat of flat black. I know it's considered a no-no, but I've actually had the end results sound better afterwards. If I do, I'll post that too. Why not. An A/B type thing.

Your right. A little flat black and they'll be 1960's hippy rock ready; flat black it is...

Here's a couple pics of the cone painting. I've got to get some weldwood contact cemet for the surround. When that is done I'll post pics of that too...

The surround is done. Here is a pic. Not sure why it looks a different color in the picture, but in person it's pretty much the same color as the cone/dust-cap.

Tomorrow I will hook it up and see how it sounds. Gotta give weldwood contact glue cure good.
