Keeping with the pirate theme

Thanks guys, more or less experimenting how these pickups sit in a mix so it’s something I quickly slapped together. These pickups are HOT!!! I thought my EMG’s were high output! The swapped configuration is also interesting, I switch to the neck position and I expect a lower tone than what I get. On the lead part I used the bridge pickup and got a deeper tone than what I’m used to. Not a bad thing at all although near the end I had a hard time hearing what I was doing on the G string of the lead bit right before I pulled sharp on the Floyd.

The EMG 81TW & 89R are not super hot, as one would expect. Not sure how they compare to your Blackouts????

Well I have 81-85 x series. They intentionally lowered the output a bit to allow you to change the tone and clean it up when you roll the volume back, like you would a passive, In fact, these were the answer to the blackouts because Seymour Duncan was the first to do that with active pickups. You can also do it with emg 57-66 which I’ve done on a few of my recordings. So the clean part of this recording with the delay, the amp model is supposed to be squeaky clean. I had to roll back the volume pretty far down because I was still getting quite a bit of crunch.
