Lol. They are plug-ins. You use them with recording software instead of buying very expensive analog processors.

For example:

If you wanted the hardware version of the last plug-in I listed here's what you'd be in for ...

The computer emulated plug-ins are a fraction of that cost. My Fearn retails for about $300 but I got it on sale for less than $70. Sale is key, always.

Good plug-ins can emulate the hardware very well and are obviously a much better investment.

I get that but WTF is all that stuff??

I am not a music recording engineer but most of the stuff in studios is of course analog high dollar. Some of it developed many years ago and used on recordings you would recognize. However you won't know what gear they used. Many current producers and engineers integrate plugins or use them for a convenient cost effective way to have a studio on your computer.

I have a few but I am not even good at using them.
Sap is a great teacher lol.
Next step , how too?

I wish I had even a rudimentary understanding of recording software lol I've made some half assed attempts that turned out....ok. But it's something that goes way over my head on how to do it properly and what exactly everything is.

Heck, I'm still learning to do it properly. There are a lot of "secrets" and sort of unintuitive tricks to audio production and you kinda learn them while you go along, maybe. Lol. EQ cuts and magical notch (very thin EQ dips) that can make significant sound enhancements to make things sound more professional. That's just a random sort of example that came out of nowhere I guess. :)

Thanks a lot. Me too actually - I think they are like DB, only they take into account perceived volume. I use it lightly I have to say and yes, that interface sold me. Lol.
IIRC…LUFS is a system of measuring the dynamic range of a recording…no lufs…no dynamics…smashed mix. Of course the peak ceiling is taken into account too.

High pass everything except kick drum ;) just choose the high pass frequency appropriately for the instrument at hand.
Subtractive eq is often preferable to additive eq in the digital domain.
It’s all a tangled web.
just a half joking summary. :dood:  :dood:
