Okay...it's been awhile since I posted to this thread.
I've finished "Unmasked" and "Music From the Elder".
On their own, they aren't bad. They could be good albums on their own.
However, they aren't "Kiss-like".
Even when I listen to early, softer Kiss music, it still has "gutz". (Yes, I spelled "GUTZ" with a "Z" on purpose!)
However, these two Kiss albums lack "gutz". I can't necessarily say,"It's bad." But, just like it's kinda hard for me to see AC/DC singing Barry Manilow's, "Oh, Mandy"....yeah, I like it fine as a Manliow tune, but it wouldn't work as an AC/DC tune. In the same way, it's not especially easy to see these albums as Kiss albums.
"Unmasked" and " "Music From the Elder" are alright on their own, but it's hard for me to see them creations from the same band that wrote, "Deuce".
Just to keep things clear...I am gaining a certain degree of appreciation for Kiss in the early years. But, some of these albums leave me scratching my head...
