I was pretty much done with bottom end cheap guitar mod platforms.
Been wanting a tele in my stable again and was set on a Squier Classic Vibe 50's.
As things have evolved I just cant justify the expenditure.
I'm trying not to buy PRC, but sometimes do.
Enter the Monoprice Indio Retro Tele - has good reviews in general and in particular from several members on another forum.
I like it, though it was not my first choice in colors.
I wanted butterscotch or blonde with maple fretboard, but settled for this.
Overall build quality is quite good; tuners are good enough, nut is cut well but tuning drifts a little so far with the strings that came on it (which are not bad). Mini pots / cheap hardware typical but usable. Function of switch and pots is good with an even sweep on vol / tone.
Is very playable right out of the box; seems to have been given at least some set up, and there are a few pick scuffs on the pick guard plastic.
The pick ups are not horrible; likely to be upgraded but maybe not.
The fret ends are smooth. Initial play through the frets are reasonably level - I found nothing glaring but havent really dug into and dialed it in yet.
The neck is I guess a medium C, the frets are medium size / not jumbo.
It balances ok; the neck will creep down hands off, but it doesnt dive like some of the other guitars that have come and gone.
The only negative I found is what looks to be a glue repair at the bass side of the neck pocket. Since it appears I got a good one except for that, I wont be sending it back. I might complain and ask for a discount, Idk. I have yet to take the neck off and inspect further however.
It plays very well and is comfortable.
So far at under $100 delivered, no regerts.
