John Mayer documentary

If I could play 1/4 as good as JM -- I wouldnt SUCK -- ;)

I bet he knows all them "theory" things-- and the names of the notes and chords--- and progressions ....and nodes--modes-- bodes--toads-- WTF ever all the crap is the music teachers are all on about----
or you can play IMPROVISATIONAL JAZZ--- and well its ALL good ;)
no "wrong" notes in jazz --- your just being "creative" lol
 
Noa a huge fan of his music, but he is one helluva guitar player. And like with Joe Bonamassa I just do not get the haters. What is there to hate with John Mayer? He seems like a genuinely ok guy to me. Am I missing something?

JM is probably not such an OK guy. He seems to be a bit of a narcissist. But he can write and sing

I've never met either of them in person, so I am not sure. I wish them both continued success....

I want to believe this. And, I have no reason to disbelieve it, as I’m sure you’re accurately representing your personal experience.

However, do you believe these same people would be just as kind, humble, and down to earth with the janitor, or the cleaning lady, or others who aren’t fellow musicians?

Agreed on that. The actual, legitimate, rock stars that I know or have met are sincerely the nicest people on the planet.

As for Mayer, I don't know the guy but he has always seemed pretty cool to me from what I have seen, so I will leave it at that unless some additional evidence comes my way.

Come to think of it, to them, I am likely a musical janitor.... :-)

In my personal experience, yes. I've spent time just going out to dinner/drinks/hanging out with some people who the public may expect to put on some airs (I'm not about name-dropping but you definitely know who these people are) and they they are just as kind to every person they meet as they are to me or anyone else in their circle. In cases where I am a friend of a friend they are always just as inviting and generous as the guys I am directly friends with.
