It is with sadness that I announce that John has apparently died 12/12/21.
Reported on Facebook by his son.
Some of you will know him from the old SG site or the Fender Forum.
John and I hit it off immediately and became good friends, despite living on different continents.
He taught me a lot, and I’m grateful that I was his friend.
Rest easy my old mate.
You will be missed.

Oh, no!

I know Biddlin had several health issues. He and I PM’d back and forth over the years, too.

R.I.P. Bid
We lost an "internet legend"

Bid was a great friend, and I'm so tired of doing this....

Go to just about any guitar based website, chances are Bid was a member. Helped me out years ago when I was a "newb". He helped out so many people he couldn't even remember when he stuck up for me when the innerweb bullies had me in their sights.

Peaceful journey my friend and RIP.

I can't describe how sad I am. Biddlin was a good friend of mine, definitely a special human being with an incisive intelligence and keen wits. A solid personality, which not everyone got along well in guitar forums, perhaps exactly because he wouldn't tolerate what he didn't accept.

I'll miss him a lot. Btw some of you mods will remember me pleading for a lift of his ban. I sure missed him in here.

Goodbye, my friend. You'll be remembered as a good brother of mine.

He is the one who got me thinking about whether tonewood was a thing, and other things he deemed to be pure marketing. He certainly had an impact on my guitar journey.

RIP Bro Bid. I know he made a few waves here, but as is seen, he had his good sides too. As a guitar player, he is a fallen Brother.

Have to use his humor in his honor. Never forget is butthurt balm.

Beautifully said, Mr Sérgio... (y). In my heart, I'm echoing everything you have said here.

This is very sad news indeed. I've always had mad respect for Biddlin since my fist days posting at the ETSG forum. This man pulled no punches and had such a sophisticated and crafty sense of humor. I would regard him as a cranky yet loveable old F-er.

I didn't know that Biddlin's earth name was John Hobbs. Thank you Mr @Alex_SG for announcing and posting this thread. R.I.P. Mr John Hobbs... :sadwave:
