John Abel aka @guitarweasel

What kinda stuff are you looking for?
This will take some dumpster diving. If you recall the massive SG info site @guitarweasel made for ETSG, I'd like to reclaim all of the SG database. If you go to EverythingSG.com - Catalogs we can reclaim all of John's work that Alex tossed aside like yesterday's garbage. Perhaps we could start a new thread dedicated to Weasle with all of the work he did compiling this SG data.

If anyone wants assist on this project, please let me know.

I went to ETSG to see what I could find. Maybe you know how to dumpster dive for that stuff. His name is still there as an active member, but wasn’t able to find any posts. I thought along with his encyclopedia of SG knowledge, I was figuring he had some video of some of the concerts he played in…. Or sitting at home. Just him and a guitar. Couldn’t find any of that either.

I did drop a note there of his passing.

Edit: I had to go run some errands. Home now. I’ll go back into ETSG and look a little harder/deeper and see what I can find. Also see what I can find elsewhere of him playing in bands. May contact his former band mate, Dan Buck, and see if he can help with some of that.

Hi everyone…I’m John’s (aka @guitarweasel) daughter. I was searching the internet for stuff and came across this forum. I knew about everythingSG and knew he belonged to a lot of gear/guitar forums. I just wanted to say thank you all for all the kind words you’ve said about my dad. You have no idea how much it means to see that he left an impact on so many people in some way or another.

Is this Traci?

I got to know your dad thru ETSG. Thru conversations we figured out we lived pretty close to each other. Me in Fox Lake. At that time your dad was in St. Charles. We always talked about meeting in the middle for a beer. We never pulled it off. I really regret that.

Your dad was a good guy with a big heart…. But pretty sure you already know that. Just know. He meant a lot to us.

Yes, this is Traci. Thank you so much for your kindness. This all means so much to me and is helping with the healing process.
