Johan is AT IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wHAT head were you running ???

IT maybe a Peavey/Peavey thing and a Fender or Marshall head will not "jive" with the SHeffield???

reviews online seem to be a love hate mixed bag with few "they are o.k.'s" -- its either "these are AMAZING and I love mine" -- or "they suck arse and should die"

I despised them in the 4x12 I had long ago, but I was young, and silly back then...so maybe user error.;)

I've run my two pair of Jackson/Randall 4x12 cabinets with all of my combos and they all sound GOOD, but I don't always need all of that - even a single 4x12 is more than I can move in my car, so having a good combo that's light and potable, but sound BIG is a huge advantage...

I originally purchased it with a Peavey Ultra 60 head. It was a steal of a package deal, and I learned why...I also used it with my Laney AOR 50. Also a 50watt JCM900. The only thing that sounded better than decent through it was the Laney, but the Laney sounds good through most anything. I also had a Marshall 2x12 during that time, that I used more often.
Then I picked up my Dual Rec with a Recto cab...I couldn’t get rid of the Peavey cab quick enough.
Sorry man, but that rig was the only thing from Peavey that really disappointed me.

No worries here man -- it happens -- not all pairings are "good" ---and well I have a MESA that has RUINED me for all else...

That’s why I have a couple of 1x12s, and a 2x12...easy toting...different sounds too.

It’s hard to tell with either of these amps. Without being there and being able to tweak the EQ knobs myself, it’s hard to say which one I like the best.

I play live regularly with a Marshall DSL-5C. But, I don’t use the stock speaker. I essentially use it as a head, and run it to a speaker cabinet in an isolation box. When mic’ed up to the PA, it sounds huge and very thick.

Also, using it like this allows me to dial in for tone, not volume. I let the PA do the heavy lifting for volume.

My DSL has a sweet spot for gain and volume that you don't want to exceed. If I try to push it too hard for either one, I’ll end up with a cute little black and gold fizz generator. It’s actually better to run it slightly tame, on both channels, and give it a little shove with a Tubescreamer, if necessary.
