I don't care for Joe, I've tried and tried, been to his concerts and found them lackluster and unimaginative. He reminds me a lot of Eric Johnson. I'm sure I'll take some crap for this post, but it's just my own opinion.

So here's Joe playing with the USAF Heritage Of America Band, Joe get's taken to school a bit from the first guitarist, playing wise and vocal wise. This dude put's 110% into his performance, I thought Joe looked bored.

I'd say that's typical Joe. I get that you don't dig what he's puttin' down, and that's cool. We can't all like the same things. But I've seen him play in many similar settings to this one and the unifying thing with all of them is he never tries to "outgun" the people he is playing with. I'm sure if he'd wanted a duel he could have brought some sonic scorched earth but that's not what the guy is about. He's there as a guest and he always lets them shine and I have to think his presence also tends to bring out the best in people. Look, he's got nothing to prove and a lot of us really appreciate his playing, so I think it's super cool how much he gives back in appearances like this and in helping to teach others and spread the gospel of guitar.

Oh my. Joe barely showed up for that performance. Just a row of stock phrases, and not even strung together properly - just played in disjointed lumps. This is a great way to lose a reputation.

Big fan of Joe. He blended in fine in that performance. Sergeant Jason Cale is got some serious talent going... :yesway:

That is my take. Joe has plenty more at the ready. I think it was intentional and classy. He could be a bit tired too. After all, he is a hrd working musician. Both first military guitarists were outstanding, and the first one really wowed me.

No matter how you feel about Joe's playing, Ithink he deserves respect for being true to the craft and help spread love and knowledge of the instrument by many gracious and free(to us) online tutorials.
