Jimmy Page telecaster

Chilli when i was a kid my Dad would make me play rythum while he played lead like 1 or 2 hours a nite. My fingers actually would bleed. Now im like 9 to a young teenager. i wanted to go goof off after school but oh no i had to play rythum guitar lol. i got to were i hated it and didnt pick up a guitar for 30 years. I did inherit my Dads ear for tuning.Its a curse. I can hear sour notes and intonation issues even when the tuner says there perfect.I would go in spurts about playing. Last few years ive enjoyed guitars and playing again.

My Dad played nothin but Fender Twin Reverbs. I had to pack them things to the car when i was a young kid when he went to play music.Things weighed a ton.

I bet, goo. I still remember going to my cousin's house in Ohio and toting water to the horses in 5 gallon buckets before I was 10 years old. Those buckets seemed heavy to me too. I think I'd have to set them down then go again between the spigot and the corral. I probably weighed 60 lbs and the water probably weighed 40 HAHA.

We would play the song Memphis and i could not for the likes of me hit the B7th chord i do believe it is so i would cheat and hit a B5th and my Dad would look at me like ,i heard that.Sometime he would stop and we would start over. I still cant hit a B7th Cowboy style chord in a song now. hahahahha.

@JohnnyGoo
First I ever heard of parents making kids Play Guitar!!

At what age did you come to appreciate the skill your dad forced you to learn?
Maybe this was his master plan, though knowing you would not realize it until later.
I hope you got to thank him for it.

jtcnj he wasnt like a slave driver or just make me play but he would ill say have me play alot of the time after dinner. After i got to be a 14 or 15 years old i didnt pic up a guitar for years. My Dad is the reason i love guitars .Its takin me 50 years to come to love a Tele and Strats. My dad didnt like Strats either. Volume in the wrong place. Gibsons were to heavy. although he did own a original Barney Kessel for awhile.

I dont have a problem with it although i have hit it playing. You adjust to the Stats volume position.

All this remind's me of the Yardbirds. I'm a huge Yardbirds fan. I can remember when I was a teenager going to a local store, due to a tip from a friend of mine that said the store had a barrel of cheap cassettes and in the barrel was a bunch of Yardbirds volume 1-etc, I rode to it on my bike, well could have walked up the tracks I guess, can't really remember, and I dug thru the barrel and bought all the Yardbird cassettes I could find. They had these cheap orange paper labels on them. One band - eric clapton, jeff beck, and jimmy page - and a whole bunch of great tunes and playing...
