Anybody have one of these? I did a search and didn't come up with anything. Thinking I may need one of these amps in my life, so wondering if anyone has experience with them.
I bought a Silver Jubilee Mini a while back and ended up sending it back because I couldn't dial in quite the sound I wanted from it. The clips of the 800 sound phenomenal but haven't had chance to go plug into one yet.

@Mitch Pearrow SJMP did a video of it and the Studio Vintage that he was testing out for a friend. For their size, they pack a helluva punch and get the sound right. Obviously not gonna drive a full stack lol but they do their job at home or as the name implies: studio. They seem to work best with a 2x12 but work fine with a 4x12 as well

I do own an SC20H.
I find it close enough, speaker dependent. I have a mini Jubilee as well but I love a Jube tonally, still have my 2x12 combo I got in 1987 but wanted compact.
If that is the sound you are after, a single channel 800, then yeah I say try it. It misses some of the oomph granted but gets loud. 20watts to 50 watts ain't much diff!!
The 5 watt mode is awesome too to get it up to 6 or 7 and not peel paint. I haven't ABd it with my 4010 1x12 combo but it seems very similar. Same touchy MV pot too!
Nice fx loop, amd EL34 as well!!

Try one. Haven't had a chance to gig mine yet. I spose I could do a sound clip but so many variables including what you are after.

Thanks man, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. Haven't decided if I want the h or c version (I have an unused Alnico Gold that I think would be killer in the c) but was just wondering if they got close enough to that sound I remember, and sounds like they do. Not looking to flap my pants with it the way I did 30+ years ago, but having the EL34's is huge in this power range.

I think this is my next purchase. I've been playing Boogies for a long time now, about 25 years, and lately I've been jonesin' for that Marshall sound. I picked up a little DSL-1 a couple of months ago just as a practice amp but that amp sounds better than I would have expected and it gave me the itch for the real thing, if you know what I mean.

yeah, i know exactly what you mean.
i had a dsl20 combo, and it was great, but when recording with it in the studio, we couldnt get rid of a high pitched tinny sound. had to switch over to a fender something or other 60 watt thing.
i still have my jcm900 head i bought new back in 93. my singer in atlanta had it stashed in a safe place in his house from 1999 until a few years ago when i went to Georgia and got it. it hasnt been turned on since 1999. i need to get a cab for it.

Man, you need to get ahold of a cab and plug that sucker in! I played my 2204 so long it's still kind of the sound I heard in my head (Les Paul -> TS-9 -> JCM800) that it would feel pretty nostalgic having that tone again. I bet you'd feel the same way flippin' the switch on that thing.

I got a 2500 SLX JCM900 thats still dead in the water. Awaiting the nearest tech to get freed up before i can take it up to him.

I had a 4500 Dual Reverb 900 too but foolishly took it back to the store a month later, in a bitter dispute with the arrogant, lying jerk offs. Had ordered a 1960A cab with it and they never sent the cab but instead gave me this old, beat up 1965B 4x10 cab. I never got to hear my amp properly and now years later, realized that the head was awesome, the cabinet with it sucked ( not the one i bought anyways).

Ended up getting my money back, went straight to the other shop across town and bought the SLX And a 1960A off the floor. Both amps are awesome and had sounds worlds apart: the SLX being basically the further development of the 2203/2204 JCM800 with an added gain tube and the DR being a further development of the JCM800 2205/2210 with more bells and whistles.

some people hate the 900s, but i think those people never played one and just parroted stuff they read on the web.
i think they are killer.

So true. They are monster amps. I remember people :poo:ting on them when they came out for one reason: they used diode clipping (NOT the sound). The same guys that had a Tube Screamer or SD-1 sitting in front of their amp

Yeah the diode clipping argument was always annoying. So what if they did have them? 95% of modern hi gain amps use them. It was just a simpler way to get the distortion you want and they all sounded great, still do. And yeah youre exactly right: they cry over diodes and solidstate components while dumping in and every pedal you can name in front and within the FX Loop, basically changing the sound altogether, so what difference was it that a little diode set amongst the preamp path?

I really regret sending mine back. It was a 96 i bought brand new and i knew it was a better amp than what i was playing thru. The store guys pissed me off though and i said " here, shove it" lol it was actually the first Marshall I ever owned

i had an older 100 watt super lead, but i went through a rough patch and had to sell it. the guys from lord tracy bought it.....they practiced in the same building as us in dallas.

Oh man, I don't even want to trod the first step on the "gear I wish I hadn't let go" highway. Too many heartbreakers along the way, from being broke and needing money to being young and not fully formed.
I've got the carcasses of a whole bunch of Marshalls, a bunch of Les Pauls and dozen or so great hard-to-find pedals to atone for.
